I'd imagine a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. movie to have that suspense mystery like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and the X-Files, but with more action, hopefully anyways just so we don't get some trash like the Resident Evil movies with over the top action sequence nonsense.
There's lot of potential characters at least. Brain-fried Scar might have be my favorite character in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 so far. He's so uncomfortably unhinged that it's perfect.
The only way i would see this go well is when GSC takes a lot of creative control and guard their IP.
I would like to see prime video (fallout) or HBO (the last of us) take a shot at the Stalker IP but netflix does not seem to care about putting out quality (the witcher and even worse the abomination that was the resident evil tv series)

Oh yeah it's based on the book that STALKER the game is loosely based on. A lot of the mechanics in the games are from the book/movie, like the thing about throwing a bolt to make sure it's safe to walk there. In the movie they had it tied to a rope so they could pull it back.
Roadside Picnic was interesting book to read. Stalker was also a move from way back and if you can get past its very dated visual, it was good film especially if you are fan of Stalker trilogy.
A mini-series for a streaming service would be great, the Zone and the settings are ripe for an adaptation for something like Fallout.
