That's no rumor. Disable that piece of ♥♥♥♥ and enjoy the game. It's Ansel being integrated into the app. Few older games on older app were screwed up just like Stalker.
I just saw this video on YT about it:

(39 seconds in just in case it doesn't allow the timestamp on the link)
Optimizing your system to squeeze all the blood out of a game used to be part of the hobby, and if you didn't like that you got a console. So think about getting a console if you NEED nvidia experience...
On old app, Cyberpunk in Dogtown ran like a double ass until i disabled it. That was about 3-4 months ago. Seems like that problem is deeply imbued within all Nvidia related stuff.
Yes, this application causes a lot of problems. Its only benefit is the convenience of quickly updating drivers and monitoring the GPU temperature, but if it costs 20% of the computer's performance, this garbage should be removed from the PC.
Never used it anyway, only to check for and download/install new drivers. Will just have to check for new Nvidia drivers periodically.
Checking for drivers depends on what GPU you have. If it is more than one or two generations old then IMHO, no, do not update drivers IF you have no problems. Companies are not spending time=$$$ to ensure compatibility with old hardware. Need to think about that. Good luck!
