There are no zone sounds
Has anyone noticed that ambient in the game is quite a rare phenomenon, and there is almost no extraneous noise (wind noise, sounds of mosses, crows cawing, etc.) at all? I have played for more than 50 hours and I can count on my fingers how many times I have heard the sounds of the zone in the background.

Actually, it's pretty sad for me, because in the last STALKER 2 trailers there were a lot of these very sounds, for example here: https://youtu.be/nuH154_UUI8?si=46NBIAr88Z7KcQaS

Where did it all go? Will this be fixed in the future? If anyone has any information, please share it.

That is indeed sad. The game is simply not finished. This is one of the smaller problems. Performance and AI are the main issues imo.

Thanks for your comment, I tried to adjust the sounds of the game, (in particular the sound range) but did not get any difference between full medium and low, I also use mono sound so as not to miss any sounds, but still feel the world is too quiet. If it's not difficult for you, share your sound settings please, maybe I missed something or it will help someone else.

I hear a lot of ambient sounds - from birds through to bees (when near hives) and other insects.

My settings are with full dynamic range, and with mono disabled, using headphones preset. Installed to my nvme so also no issues from that side of weird things which can lead to audio going missing.

Thank you, I'll try to remove the mono sound, as for the darkness, if I understood correctly, you mean the memory drive, I also have the game installed on an nmve ssd.

I second this, sound in this game is awesome, playing with Logitech X Pro 2.

Are you using a headset Mamba? (edit, sorry, missed other peoples replies)

Using one I really do not get any "empty world" outside of one or two moments the sound has bugged with a pause or a mismatched effect (out of 70 hours).

For me I have 20+ year old Altec Lansing speakers (was 5.1 now it is 2.0 :P) and a half decent Steel Series headset (which limits me as wear glasses and they crush my ears after over an hour playing). The headset is SO much better and the sound design is amazing to me, but of course hurts my ears so sometimes pop to speakers; but there is no contest, especially when you need directional hints (2 ch does not work, and headset will always be really good).

I use it, but my headphones and speakers are very cheap, maybe that's really the point, although I haven't experienced any problems in other games (or maybe I didn't pay attention).

The sound, both ambience and music, even for different sub-zones is there - sadly it's just glitching out more frequently the farther you progress, at least for me.

PCs they are a mystery! Is that not why we use them? Could definitely be the equipment as I run it just out the box (in game sound) and levels work on my headset (might be in the £50 zone so not the best but not super cheap either).

Hope you work it out as I really find the overall sound amazing, and many times jumped from a firefight kicking off near me while I am exploring in buildings, or when the weather gets very close like the lightning, or even the bass that comes off of some gravity anomalies really giving you a "feel" of the world.

Thank you, but maybe you misunderstood me, I hear a thunderstorm, I hear gunshots, but I'm talking about the sounds of the zone that were shown in the trailers. That they are almost not in the game, in fact, I understand that the sound may overlap in trailers, but in previous parts the howling of monsters, barking dogs, cawing, etc. sounded much more often.

Trailers is almost never is a 1:1 representation of actual gameplay.

Huh I've seen this posted several times now and have no Idea what you are talking about there is loads of sounds everywhere all the time for me.

Maybe it's just bugged for you for some reason?

My "budget" speakers are: Creative T60 (80 eur/usd)
And my "budget" earphones are: Razer Hammerhead True Wireless X (1st gen - 80 eur/usd)

I could especially recommend the earphones, they are quite thick and provide a great bass compared to the first airpods and also sound clearer in general. (I don't like in-ears btw)

There's also not much of a musical soundtrack. It's not so much ambient music but rather creepy ambient instruments playing with no real melody.

I'm playing with headphones and I've got a completely different opinion than yours. I think it's the exact opposite. A lot of times I thought that ambient sound design is very good in this game.
n0mad23 Dec 11, 2024 @ 10:18am
The very first thing I did when I fired up the game was turn off the music. In games like this, I like the sound of the environment for cues, and not soundtracks.

I hope you find the problem OP, as the ambient environmental sounds are really immersive. I've only had 2 audio glitches in over 40 hours of gameplay.
