The game is literally so bugged that the A-Life system, which was an advertised feature, straight up isn't working. And the devs admitted exactly that. So I have no idea how you can claim that you don't think the game is unfinished?
3 weeks later and the devs have basically admitted that it's not in because they couldn't figure out how to optimize it well enough to work properly without killing performance. And it's far from the only unfinished thing in the game.
It's okay if you like the game in spite of its issues. But it's not okay to tell someone who is asking for advice on buying the game that the game is finished and not buggy when that is objectively not true.
5-10 minutes for compiling shaders is really too much
Over a decade of work, to make it right. From gamers to gamers, as it should be, with no compromises! Full of references, easter eggs, and tiny random things to tickle your brain in the meantime.
Huge, insanely detailed, handcrafted map, that you want to explore, just for the sake of it. Music and sound design is no less than a masterpiece.
Each time you see negative feedback, check if the the profile was VAC banned or if it is affiliated with russia. The amount of made-up crap is unimaginable. Swamp people are mad, about Stalker 2 being banned in swamp country.
I love how rabid stans expose themselves just keeps happening on this forum. Only need look at the game funny and they get all riled up. Great amusement.
There are TONS of problems with this game.
Lots of games dont work on lots of PCs - thats just the way it is. A few months ago I bought Alien Fireteam and after two clean installs it just would not launch. I refunded the game and moved on. Maybe the OP can play Stalker 2 how I am able to play it - who knows.
And sure - the devs said ALife isnt working - great! I dont really care because nothing that is wrong with ALife is really bothering me. I'm having zero issues with enemy spawns, yadda, yadda.
And yes, it is okay for me to like this game in spite of its issues but, after 50+ hours - I havent really experienced any issues. And its not just me. Between Steam, Reddit, and Discord many players have said they havent experienced many issues - good for us, right? That isnt to dismiss that there arent issues though - obviously there are, its a new game.
PCs arent consoles - and PC gamers need to get a grip on what they're dealing with across the board. Its almost impossible for devs to build games that are compatible with every single hardware config. And hardware config obviously plays a role.
Whether or not its unfinished - I guess I cant exactly judge until I finish the game - and when I do, if I finish it smoothly without any game breaking bugs...I'm going to say its finished regardless of where ALife is when that time comes. Advertised feature, whatever. I have played thousands of hours worth of Stalker - mostly in CoC and Anomaly after completing the original games, and honestly - AlLife 1.0 isnt some super special sim code. Enemy combat AI isnt clever or tactical. My tactics in The Zone from Anomaly to Stalker 2 are the exact same, and I get the exact same results - success. With ALife 1.0, yeah you saw more Stalker activity, and it could be seen from great distance but how you engage with it can mean the difference between life and death, and in Anomaly, you're not running up on a Monolith squad you spot across the map just because "oh, its ALife 1.0 - cool".
Its hard to tell where some of you Stalker 2 players are coming from, and I'm not sure why you expect so much from ALife 2.0. Sure, its cool having this sim running in the background that gives NPCs "some" purpose but the ALife 1.0 you see in Anomaly and GAMMA is not vanilla ALife 1.0. I feel like its a hive-mind complaint - like you're all complaining about it just because its being complained about but many of you dont really know why you're complaining about it - regardless of what the devs have admitted.
I didnt really want to go on a rant here but, you dont get to insist I'm lying just because you're having a hard time and I'm not. Welcome to PC gaming - this has been happening for decades, and its going to keep happening for decades more. My best advice is learn how to build a PC. Its easier now that it ever has been. Research your hardware, and build the best possible rig for your needs. I guarantee you will get more mileage out of knowing whats in your box and why.
GAMMA also just uses the anomaly alife system unless they added the redone collection.
- Economy isn't balanced at all (in the beginning of the game you don't get enough money, in the end - too much money)
- There are random memory leaks
- There are tons of graphical artifacts
- Mutants don't work correctly (they don't match in-game description (poltergeist))
- There are tons of softlocks in the main campaign
- There are a lot of bugs in quests
- Spawning system is broken (it can teleport enemies to you endlessly)
So yeah, $50 for ultimate edition is a fair price but its current price... Eh? Not worth it.
