Is it playable yet?
I had the compiling crash bug as well as Rostok issue. Has the patch actually fixed anything this time around?

Unless you have infinite patience, no , it's not.

My experience is the early game has the most bug fixes, once you cross into Garbage, it goes into frustration mode. With bugs and nerfed quests expect to spend 25% more time in game working around them (but this varies as some have had no issues). Word of warning, don't progress the main mission with open side quests, that cost me 3 hours alone to close those (doing the swamp x 2), then progress (got me stuck in SIRCAA with a hang).

Due to upgrading my machine I have played this game now on two systems and on three GPUs (1070, 1080 and now a 3080). My first rig was a relative potato, my current rig is not high end but much stronger. I played and completed the game, starting before the first patches, and finishing after them. Explored much more and taking it even slower on my second run. I have encountered some bugs on the way, absolutely, but over those two PCs and three GPUs I never experienced any of those game-breaking bugs everyone here seems to talk about.

And I have to assume that I am not a special unicorn in this regard.

At this point, people still experiencing the shader bug, or game-breaking quest bugs should maybe consider that their systems are at fault, and/or their old save files are just effed up and they need to start a fresh game. Or look at their mod folders and tweaks they have attempted and go back to vanilla for once.

Edit: So, yes, it is playable "yet". It has been playable for many weeks.

no, quest items getting stuck in your inventory, broken sidequests, random falling below lift and dying
it is a alpha quality build release and patchnotes are not reliable, stay away until next year

It is playable but not that what they promised: a-life is not working steathl is not working, they promised a roadmap which is still not present, new patch now does more problems! so do not buy this game before summer! and because of the reason they stopped communicating to the customers i guess there will be nothing more before april or may. Because the promised roadmap is still missing!
Always has been.
Is numpad working again for left handed players?
100% no, broken quests, no basic features, wait for more patches

Those two issues are fixed for me. I've had no game breaking bugs yet either. Kind of depends on who you talk to.

My gripes are all with the mediocre AI/spawning, and lack of injury animations. Too easy to cheese a mutant too.

Back to the Slag is still not working. I wonder if it is because I picked up quest items like collars and pdas while running around in areas like Red Forest and Yaniv.

Same here, and some Mutants are a bit to easy to kill, while others are much harder (maybe to hard like the Pseudogiant)
Chimera should be the hardest to kill with its 2 hearts and 2 brains, but its much easier to kill than the Pseudogiant, at least they should be evenly matched, but there not.
Chimera took me 2 wel placed Gauss shots to kill, Stupid Pseudogiant took me atleast a clip of Gauss amo to kill :(
