Just feels wrong to have such iconic locations from SoC (and CS) be so empty and unused... even their equally iconic undergrounds got scrapped.

Do you agree? What other locations do you feel needed a bit more love in this game?

Yeah its just a empty location,
It is surprising that Anomaly (commonly referred to GAMMA, except that is just a mod pack) has a lot more content and activity/life going on then Stalker2 atm. (no cinematic tho)

A lot of the game is like this, imho. Exploration is quite underwhelming and unrewarded. It might be open world, but it seems like so much content requires you to progress the main story e.g. locked doors, or items/stashes spawning, making it very linear, under the surface.
