Too much loot is making the game too easy - especially ammo and consumables
Am I to believe no other stalker would check all the lockers? Why is there just an insane amount of food, drugs and ammo everywhere you look? Especially the boxes. They drop anywhere from 1 Beer to 5 sausages and a vodka and there's dozens of them everywhere. I go out with 3 cans of food and come back with 17 and this is on max difficulty.

That's the way it is, and the devs were always more likely to lean toward abundance, just like the other three games, and it will take mods to get it where you want it to be.

IN the mean time consider some house rules, play a different way. Like I play now without using stashes. Trust me this will fix your ammo issue :)
ehh I like to see as, the loot I get is loot that other people have stash away thinking no one would look there.

I find food a lot more in abundance than ammo. But it depends on what ammo you are using.
Just don't pick up loot = porblemo solvedo
If it makes anyone feel any better, I played all the STALKER games for lots of hours and I didn't realize the boxes with the "fragile" symbol on the had food in them until my 2nd playthrough of STALKER 2.....

There’s a pda recording of a dude losing his mind cause he found a stash full of food. Bottom left of the map across the water from where you start. This would make sense if food was rare

I’d like it if food was only found on the people you kill, and if 90% of it was “rotten”. Give me a reason to buy things from the barkeep. If people had bandages but very rarely med kits. Stashes should have no food, rare vodka but most of the time something interesting to loot (an artefact, a weapon with a few upgrades etc). And drop the amount of stashes in game by 75%

Quality over quantity
Im at midgame i think, I have almost 150 medkits and 330 bandages in my stash
Insaine amount of ammo??? Where? Because wen i loot i usualy only get 5 or 6 rounds of ammo :( and crates usualy dont hold much also.

I agrea we get an insaine amount of consumables, especialy Vodka... and Tons of Bandages and Medkids, but verry few Militairy medkits and even more rare are the Schientist medkits...

95% of stashes: bread or a sausage, energy drink or vodka and one box of 9mm or 12 gauge shotgun ammo. Very occasionally a grenade or two. Rinse & repeat x 1,000.
Grokk has a mod that helps with that. Also drops the amount of healing you get from food and other things.

That's the curse of every open world game that the developers have to prepare enough ressources. Games like The Last of Us 1/2 or other Resident Evil series with their linear approach have a better design option for scarcity. I think some Resident Evil games even had a mechanic to drop more if you're low on stuff or spawn in more enemies if you had too much stuff.

They do this to make the game more accessible to players of lower skill or players who aren't hoarders who check everything but just run and gun.

Amusingly, there are posts complaining the exact opposite point. Not enough loot, weapons, stuff. You please Player A, but piss off Player B.

But ignoring loot makes the game unfun. This is not a solution - you don't get that high with Stalker 2 of finding something really good anymore. There was a lot of interesting loot in the first few games - Clear Sky especially the start is pretty rough.

I'm early and I'm double that just because I loot and check everything.

Yeah, the lore surrounding the game makes it seem like ammo, meds and food are scarce but they you find a storage full of sausages that were somehow untouched for 40 years.

I think the complaint you're referring it isn't about a lack of abundance but a lack of diversity.

My position is that food is way too abundant. Meds are slightly too abundant. Ammo is too abundant for me, but I'm super conservative with ammo, so it's probably about right in reality.
