Can you explain "spread decrease"?
And what that means exactly?

It means the grouping of your bullets is tighter.

Worth upgrading then?
depends on the cost of the upgrade and how much of an improvement you get. People upgrade everything and then complain it costs too much to repair. Be strategic with upgrades to minimize repair costs.

Finding the weird water artifact as an example negates the need to buy leaded containers, but you have to deal with the drunken effect. Pick your poison.

I'd say yes if it's a weapon you intend to use a while, and factor in the additional repair costs. I've been using the same AR now about 40 hours and have it fully upgraded. It's the single most expensive repair for me pretty consistently - but I do mitigate that by putting it in my inventory before going into an anomaly field so it doesn't get damaged that way.

It's always about juggling benefits vs cost. I'm deep in the mid-game now, and am not struggling for money.

Less bullets missing the target means less ammo spent, means less money wasted on armor repairs you could have avoided, less money spent on ammo (if you bother buying it), less money spent repairing the gun's condition overall.

Nothing but benefits.
