I'm confused about the poppy field.

I'm out of the poppies, there are no floating ones around me, yet I still keep falling asleep. what is that about?

the effect will continue about 30 seconds once you are clear of the effects border, have to take it into account when fleeing the field.

i get that, I'm saying i was on a roof, there were no floating poppies around, I was chugging energy drinks and i still fell asleep.

That roof is in the poppy field anomaly. Anomaly field.

For reference. As far as I can tell, ANYWHERE except for the root cellar in the field, approximately inside the blue line in this image is considered in the poppy field. And if you have audio going, as long as you hear the weird tune, you are considered in the poppy field. Note, the tune lasts for about 5-10 seconds after leaving.
