I highly doubt there are any plans to introduce microtransactions. That was never even mentioned by them.
1. Some fans have been "following"the patching progress on https://steamdb.info/app/1643320/depots/, where you can see Steam Branches for S2 and how devs change them in time. But now (at list I) can only see "public" branch, where there was a list of 20 or so until the end of the year. This (in my opinion) is GSC trying to hide which branches they are updating.
2, One of the branches name was "mod.io" - the most crappy mod platform I (and many others) can think of. The only reason devs are using it is, because it's multiplatform and it solves them the problem of consolve croud ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about not having mods. egsamples of good games using it are BG3, Snowrunner or Ready or Not.
3. They were toying with an idea of NFTs (which are extra scummy MTs essentially) in Stalker 2 at some point and backed out from it after community pushback. Need more info - google "stalker 2 nft", or simply look up "nft" itself. Little bit extra, if you need to know how it sucks is looking up "ubisoft nft" - that's some serious s**t ;).
4. Before the branches dissapeared from steamdb (again: at least for me - I'm still trying to verify if they are missing for others too) somebody seen a branch called "useritems" or something similiar - speculation was this is for testing MTs actually. But we cannot see if anything else is happening with it currenly.
All of this, combined with how the "modern gaming industry" has been operating for years now, makes me just a little bit nervous about future of this unique game, that I really liked so far.
