How do you tell friend from foe without coming too close that they start shooting at you?
For humans obviously. It's hard to tell them apart from afar. And if you come close they either say priviet or start greeting you with ak bullets instead.. it's like playing russian roulette.

Take out groups that shoot at you, study the common themes of there clothes (color, camo, type of clothes) and compare them to the groups that DON'T shoot at you and its a bit easier. Granted there are times where you can interact with people from factions that would normally attack you. Honestly if you're okay with mods I would of made the same identifying mod that was made for the older games, anomaly, and gamma.

Why can't you just use the binoculars? Oh, right....
Sniper scope then.

Well... the 'scopes' are very limited too. Some sniper rifles are comparable to the Susat 2x level of zoom. Even with a scope you will have issues telling people apart when a scene is as dark as "dimly lit."

Aim with your crosshair at them, if it turns green, friendly, if it doesnt turn green, they are enemy.

Look at what clothes/suit they have and eventually you'll get to know who's who, just by what they're wearing EDIT - if you have a scope, check their armbands, to see their faction patches.
