Sweet! I tried to skim through some recent gameplay but could not find any indicators of weapon condition so I wanted to ask.
This is one of the few AAA games in a while I'm trying to go in completely blind, but I at least wanted to know how close to the original this was going to be.
As long as their are still survival horror elements of scrounging for ammo, fighting scary mutants, moving through dark dank underground bases, and the unique "a-life" system that really makes the world feel alive, this game will be a slam dunk for me.
Haven't read anything about that from the devs, tho.
I mean the original 3 games had very basic weapon degradation and I would be completely fine with that being in this game. Its just adds to the atmosphere that you are in an apocalyptic zone, and weapons/gear will not be in perfect condition when you find it unless you yourself fix it up.
I also hope there is a survival mode similar to Metro Exodus where ammo is more scarce and things of that nature to really add more the the atmosphere ;)
If so it doesn't sound any different than CoP, basically. It's probably the same elements there, since the brief upgrade screen we saw looked very reminiscent of CoP.
Sounds exactly want I loved in the past games. Finding that favorite weapon and slowly maintaining and growing an attachment to it. Very good to here this is still a core of the Stalker experience.
Levkovskyi: We've ensured that weapons behave realistically, with accurate ballistics, recoil, and damage models, preserving the gritty and unforgiving nature of combat where every shot counts.
This sounds like the exact type of sequal I would want from the original Stalker games. Thanks for pointing me to this article, its a great read!
That's correct. Weapons will degrade in S2. Oh, and don't think that you can make money on broken guns :)
Is there any point in carrying broken weapons with you? In the previous parts, they were pointless (repairs are expensive, and selling them after repair isn't profitable). Therefore, there was absolutely no reason to keep broken guns. The idea in the SGM mod was good; you could disassemble weapons and equipment for parts
your weapon won't break after few shots, but for a long mission you want to make sure it is fully maintained.
Otherwise, there would be little point in upgrading our favourite irons.
