Will we get Steam Workshop?
That would actually be insane

Peak modding if true

That would make it easier for Steam users to install/use mods, but make it much more difficult for GOG users.

I doubt it would use that. As this game is also going to available through Microsoft Store App and Xbox Gamepass

There are games that use Steam Workshop that are also on Gamepass and Microsoft Store App so this isn't necessarily true at all

Well we'll see. I don't think it should use that method but whatever. Let the community be more open. Steam Workshop is not all that great.

ModDB is where the vast amount of the Stalker modding community exists currently.

Nexus is an option but they have become extremely draconian as of late (Not to mention the bandwidth throttling unless you pay). Steam Workshop would be a good secondary alternative to ModDB if possible.

Personally I think having multiple options is better than just singling out a lone mod hosting service. The more places a mod exists, the less likely it is to be taken down or snuffed out, and the more options players have to obtain it.

Yea I don't see how it could hurt, as long as it's some exclusive non-sense, which I don't see how it would be since the first 3 games (remastered) are available on Microsoft Store / Xbox and are mod-ready

Knowing GSC and their ways, they will most likely take the easy route and use the cursed Mod.io since it integrates with consoles, like they did with the console ports.

There IS a way to download steam workshop mods regardless of where your game is purchased, BUT the devs\publishers need to allow it.

For example, Kenshi has a huge modding community\steam workshop but LoFi games set their workshop as "unrestricted", this is a developer specific setting. See for yourself: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/3172198151270641838/?appid=233860

Well, this appeared to me once, once looking at my community I saw that in Stalker 2 it said "0 art in workshop" or unless it is something it will probably have
MMalficia Nov 2, 2024 @ 6:15pm
yeah while i get the exposure side i doubt it will have workshop support GSC likes another hoster , im not sure how well that works with GOG games .. but theres always others that pop up (modDB, nexus being the most popular AFAIK) (yes ill be getting it on GOG)

We all obviously have steam accounts and likely many dozens of games here, but yes, GOG for me as well. In another thread I also suspect Moddb will be the go-to source as it has been for STALKER mods in the past.

I hope the devs add Steam workshop. +1
