Nexus is an option but they have become extremely draconian as of late (Not to mention the bandwidth throttling unless you pay). Steam Workshop would be a good secondary alternative to ModDB if possible.
Personally I think having multiple options is better than just singling out a lone mod hosting service. The more places a mod exists, the less likely it is to be taken down or snuffed out, and the more options players have to obtain it.
There IS a way to download steam workshop mods regardless of where your game is purchased, BUT the devs\publishers need to allow it.
