Some of the hardest mutants like Bloodsuckers, Chimeras, Pseudogiants, and Controllers can all be seen roaming around during the day.
These are clearly areas where this new version could up the immersion significantly, but "we don't know yet" if and to what extent that has happened.
In Shadow of Chernobyl there was a mission to steal some military documents. If you went in there during the day, you would end up in a nasty gunfight, but if you sneaked in during night, you would be able to complete the mission without alerting anyone.
And yes, crouch walking/sneaking was present in the original.
Old School STALKER was a fantastic game. But the first installment, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, is a game from 2007, more than 17 years ago. So let's stay properly calibrated about the level of expectations for games of that era.
I do recall (correctly?) that when you attempted to spawn into the map thru a particularly useful underground path, you needed to trigger that map-switch with no weapon in-hand, not even a knife, or the sound of you equipping your weapon would play immediately when the map loaded, alerting nearby enemies.
How was called that mission? Anyway from another perspective. Does any mutants even sleeping? During night or day? Can you see em sleeping?
