Does Sleep Deprivation Even Happen by Default?
I've been playing for over 30 hours so far, and I've never had a need to sleep or use energy drinks to counteract the effects. I'd never even seen the symbol before until arriving in Rostok, where the arena forces the effect after each fight.

Did I miss some trigger that "activates" the tired effect in-game? Weird that I've never even known it's an effect, despite entering the poppy field in the Lesser Zone.

I think that feature is broken. It's only ever cats that cause it for me and it instantly vanishes when they're dead.

It works I got white moon icon and my character started yawning, for real. Bingo does not fire though. That achievement is at zero percent and appears busted.

It does happen on its own eventually. Granted in 124 hrs of play, I only had it happen naturally 3 times total, it does take quite a bit before it takes a toll. You basically need to be up for 3 days strait or at least 48 hrs before it takes a toll.

Most of the time when it happens it is due to the cats, once an anomalous zone, and it seems to automatically trigger whenever collecting the reward for an arena match.

That would explain it. Might aswell not exist then. smh

If you didn't consume energy drinks during the Poppy field (mission) and you're not advancing time by using the bed then you should get tired soon after arriving in Garbage. That was the case in my 1st play, but I still think it's bugged and the achievement is definitely broken.

Well, that would explain it. Might aswell not exist then.

Although considering how long it takes naturally, it does make me curious if anyone sees it more often, and if that said person uses a certain weird artifact.

It seems all the weird artifacts, in addition to the absurd benefits, also have unusual downsides. Whether those have all been discovered or verified is another story. For example the Strange Water Bottle, makes you drunk if over a certain weight, the Weird Ball can weigh you down as it goes up to 5kg weight (that cost me when ambushed by bloodsuckers once while carrying loot back), and so on.

Since no one seems to know the downside (other than it becoming less effective after resting) to the Weird Flower, I often wonder if those who use it become tired faster (based on both how it works and where it is found)?

Seems like something that needs further testing.

My theory is that the people who set the day/night cycle thought one thing, and the people set the sleep-requirement value thought a different thing, about what the pace of a "day" would be in-game. And obviously neither of them seems to be "correct", one being too fast and the other being too slow.

Seems about right.

It also doesn't help that I always have at least 5 energy drinks on me for when I'm encumbered and need to make it back to base, while also slugging every single extra one I find along the way.

I think if you fast travel to a bunch of different locations without sleeping in between you'll get tired pretty soon after.

However my experience could have been caused by running into one of those Cats...

Energy drinks negate it. Most people use them regularly enough that you won't experience it. I was able to confirm this by not using them for an hour or so of playtime on my end so not sure if its a YMMV situation?
