No Night Vision goggles seems like heresy for STALKER
I wanna start off by saying I absolutely love the fact that night time is actually dark. Its one of my pet peeves in games when its supposed to be midnight yet you can see perfectly without any light sources. Its unrealistic and makes for less immersive gameplay and im glad GSC stayed a bit more true to real life in this regard. That being said, the lack of any night vision in this game is really lame. It was so cool upgrading suits/helmets in the trilogy with different generations of night vision to give yourself an edge. It felt like a natural part of the progression and what separates a Rookie from an Expert. Maybe I am just missing it but ive already picked up a couple EXOs and SEVA suits and have yet to see it. Imagine how atmospheric this game would be in Unreal Engine 5 with Gen 2 nightvision or Thermal scopes (this would probably be endgame loot though) I hope they add it at some point (I know modders will of course) and make it a natural part of the progression again whether it be in the form of Goggles/Helmet and Suit upgrades/Scope upgrades.

It doesnt feel like STALKER to me without it!

I feel you man considering how it was a feature in the older series, theres also a lot of npcs youll encounter that have the nvg model on their helmet

Both binoculars and nightvision goggles are mentioned in the game code, so they were likely cut out of the game. Like so many other things.

I hope they return and are integrated into the progression. Same thing with Binoculars and other optics. It would make loot more interesting to have different pieces of equipment you could find and upgrade.

I don't know if the missing or shrunken features we get are a result of having to squeeze the game into low spec consoles.

But if so, I hope that at some point in the future this bond gets broken and the PC / high end consoles versions get the upgraded features they deserve.

I hope for a nightvision update, too.

For the moment I use Gamecompanion (on Nexus) to make the nights brighter.

I try to makes sense about the devs decision not including NVG in this game. Perhaps it's about performance issue (lighting or graphics limitation)? I mean it's almost basic to include NVG in game like this.

probably removed due to performance limitations on console

Probably going to get added in a DLC.
Cut content for DLC is the standard these days..

I played the original trilogy on PC first and then again on console. So imagine my dissapointment when I found out that the only thing this game has over the previous is the graphics.

@OP +1

It should be #1 priority to bring them back. Nuff said.

Dear Stalker, this is not an absence of night vision, that is AnOmALy!

Haha yes, night vision, binoculars and a dynamic hud that changes according to the gear you select and the damage it suffers are must have imo, GSC will probably add (all of?) them in the DLC or modders will do it after getting more appropriate tools to mess with.

I miss the night vision in the higher rated suits - and two levels of it even! I don't even bother with the flashlight outside at night, because that just kills your distance vision, which is realistic though. Where I miss it the most is fighting in tunnels or labs. Enemies can hit you through walls from distances that you can't even see them. The flashlight range is so bad that you wind up firing at muzzle flashes 95% of the time - or just charge them with a shotgun.

I miss the binoculars as well, but that's a little less important until they can figure out spawning. It doesn't matter what you see in front of you, when a random firefight spawns in right behind you.

Game is easy as it is, dont need Night Vision. If you cant use your flashlight, play a different game.
