Sniper rifles seem useless
Since the game is not rendering past 100m and spawns happen so close, it seems sniper rifles are not worth the added weight and ammo weight. Maybe a few specific situations like defending the duty outpost, and some other specific mission spots. Although I have not hit pripyat yet. Maybe there with the buildings?

They aren't worth carrying around. I just sell all the ones I find. You do need a rifle with a scope though. I use the VS-Vintar and the Mark 1 EMR. Although they're classified as sniper rifles they're really assault rifles with a more powerful cartridge. You can upgrade the EMR to fully automatic fire. The ammo is pricey, but worth it in the later game, because head shots with AP ammo make things much smoother when the enemy all have heavy armor.

All my assault rifles have scopes. AP rounds to the head of all the exoskeleton enemies works well. Never had a regular enemy in a helmet not go down from 1 AP round to the head. As it should be.

SVU is worth using. 9x39 weapons are trash in this game, so short 7x62 semi auto sniper is a good choice, especially after... "world changing events" when enemies gain a lot of armor.

I pretty much had the same experience in CP2077 Was it also UE5 as well and does the engine have something to do with it i wonder?

Full on snipers Ive only used once for a specific mission, an AR with a scope is usually more than enough

I actually found my perfect loadout to be shotgun for short range/mutant, revolver for mid-range and a sniper for long-range. Got rid of AR's eventually because just going for headshots with revolver/sniper was so strong and saved me tons of ammo.

CP2077 had a whacked weapon system, where a single bullet from a pistol does more damage than a single bullet from an AR or sniper rifle. Not that I didn't play the hell out of CP2077 and enjoy it lots.

You got such a huge world yet your sight and bullets are limited to a tiny 100 meters? Hope this is not true.

So literally hand grenade throw range is the max range for every gun kinda like in CP2077? You gotta be kidding me. It would stick out here even more due to open outdoor world..

Is it down to 80m now?

I like to climp up high and snipe people for fun. So they have their uses. Use the M701 most of the time, Lynx is also fun. Looking forward to getting a Gauss Gun later in the game, I also heard someone mention a named sniper called whip, but I'm not far enough in the game to have gotten it.

From what I understand the bubble has always been 80m, people have just been theorizing 50-100.
