Yaryk Mongoose Becomes Hostile

So basically when I hear his voice and enter the building, he starts to shoot at me. I thought maybe this was because I had chosen to side with Ward. Or is it a bug? There is literally nothing on the internet about this bug.

I just encountered the same situation. Just to avoid spoilers: did you do the "In the Name of Science" side mission?

Yes I did that quest. I killed Shcherba at the end.

So I guess you know most of this. the spoiler is for other people that did not do that already.
Connections with other quests: From what I read online, the quest with Mongoose and the Science quest are connected, but we both took the 'wrong' path. I did avoid going anywhere near Chemical Plant after defying Wards goals. I mean, the side quest is directly between Rostok and Chemical Plant, so I guess it's intended to get that quest much sooner than we did (edit: just checked your acheivements, I thing we're pretty close in regards to story progress, so I think I'm pretty spot on with my guess here)
Rewards: One of the rewards is getting into STC Malachite, an I'm soooo way beyond that, and I'd guess you are, too?
I did not side with Ward. and got the same thing, so I guess this is not related.

Well, I guess I'll save that mission for my second playthrough. It is weird that Yaryk Mongoose still talks to us. If he were just an enemy and started to shoot us without speaking, I wouldn't be so confused about that. Thanks anyway!

For the people who have the same problem -> We guess that this quest is connected to another quest and we took and finished the wrong one first. Quest is : In the Name of Science

I just did "In the Name of Science" quest and i spared him, am I OK for the other quest ?

I do not know if they fixed it or not. But If you did "In the Name of Science" before "For Science!" you will most likely be attacked by Yaryk Mongoose when you enter the building for the quest "For Science!".

So many side quests in this game I simply haven't been able to do cause its bugged out. Annoying asf.
