Only for some exo-suits, but yes, only switch to exo-suit if you're able and prepared to get the sprint upgrade.
Sounds the same in this new title (thus I don't see the issue).
Cool.
Fair enough, I've only gotten the diamond exo as my first and only exo and upgraded it as soon as I could so didn't know that some can't, hopefully it's not the one OP is referring to.
Games are not RL - the graphics would be better then.
Exactly this.
Is there any particular reason though for the exosuit to be nerfed in this manner?
Basically, the game is trying to be so hardcore that it is now 'more' hardcore than the real-life thing it is imitating.
And that is silly.
Since carry weight is such a limited and yet valuable commodity in this game, attaching a significant carry weight bonus to an endgame item like the exosuites would actually make sense, and provide incentive to track down good exosuites.
they drop fast with the good old ram shotgun
Later exosuits give you up to +16kg and additional weight reduction upgrades for the armor - that's a lot to work with. More so when combined with artifacts. You have to combine that with packing light and only take what you really need. Loot only what you can sell for a profit. (so no bottles, food, ammo) Occasionally you might also do several trips between the "mission area" / temporary stashes and your personal box / the trader. Given the economy I loot most of the weapons in all conditions and transport them to my personal stash. Then sell them in Rostok (my main hub - as there is also a trader who buys "red" weapons).
It's basically the game balance - without the carry weight limit you would get super rich in no time. With the proper preparation you can later carry your shotgun (you always should have a shotgun with you ^^), an assault rifle or sniper rifle as well as your pistol / revolver. Maybe even a SMG (Buket!). When going all in (lengthy main missions) you can even bring the big gun (RPM-74 - preferably "The Glutton") which weighs around 17kg (fully loaded with one belt, which means 500 rounds for the unique one). As in those missions it's about survival (and fun), not about picking loot.
its the cuirass exoskeleton. nothing but disappointment
Anyone telling you it is realistic or "You just want things handed to you" is lying to you. If they cared they would remind you of the benefits like highest default psy resistances if you are trying to save money in certain ways you still gain instead of whining "Ugh, progression? In MY game!? Why isn't everything as terrible as a soiled leather jacket forever!?""
(Wasn't there one exo suit in this that tries to trick you with "Wow! less expensive!" but has no built in psi resist and less artifacts?)
The Cuirass exosuit is exactly that one exosuit that doesn't allow this modification. Before reaching Prypiat (cheesing early entry is possible) your better option are SEVA (psi protection) or Bulat (physical protection).
i did find one that a normal exo suit and it will work when i get a tec who can do it
