But there is plenty of loot in the game already its just in some aspects it does a bad job at mixing it all together to make the player feel like its a lot.
For example it would be nice if some enemies had weapon attachments on their guns that we could sell, or what about certain enemy factions having a rare chance to drop their suit but its in a highly damaged state. We could also have rare chances of random pre-upgraded guns or guns with attachments to be dropped or stashed away.
There are so many ways to vary up the loot pool for the player with what is already there, while also making things rare and meaningful when you find them. I just don't want the base game to turn into GAMMA where the player is given so much junk they usually can't do anything with.
But I'd rather like to see a (quite simple) crafting and repair system, so we can make use of this loot. Previous games had it, and it would also make sense here.
* Disassemble weapons for parts that can be used for repair (maybe even upgrading).
* Recycle ammo for e.g. metal and gunpower so we can forge the ammo we want.
No overly complex system with repair kits and tons of ingredients, where you have to grind for that last special screw to complete something, Just simple raw ingredients for simple repairing/crafting.
Would give the excess loot a purpose, especially the red ones, and you still can decide if you want to recycle or sell.
i would limit ammo as well instead of getting 20 maybe you get few bullets here or there... THen some places you find lots of ammo so it makes it feel special and rewarding for the player.
Thing is the game has respawning enemies that makes it extremely hard to limit or predict the amount of loot any player gets in their gameplay one could even say impossible.
Your amount of loot can be drastically different compared to my game so it's hard to comment on this if you know what i mean.
Devs made their job harder when it comes to loot balance when they picked respawning enemies.
All i know is that i came across a bunch of small areas that didn't have much loot and what is was there it was more or less the same as the last area and it keeps on going like that. Granted i only played two zones so far cos i explore everything.
Few bandages a grenade, ammo and a med kit or some food. It gets so bad that i don't even look at what it's there anymore. ONly time i even look at loot anymore is when i see gun or a artifact or god forbid the upgrade or armor.
I think with more variety you get the option so you don't have to loot everything. Makes looting even better in my opinion when a player can pick what they like.
Here i have no options cos it's more or less the same things over and over.
I'm not saying you don't have a point, but if you've only explored 2 zones there is A LOT more to find then you think. You will stumble across special guns, armors,...etc in many areas, but I still agree that at least in vet they need to do some balancing in regards to the amount of loot the player gets to make things feel more impactful.
I also feel once they figure out the a-life system that deal with the enemy spawning, that will solve a lot of things too, but only time will tell.
But i still think that will be a tiny fraction of all the loot i will find.
Most of it will be Medkits and sausages. Sorry i'm just that jaded with the loot hehe
i highly doubt that game changes drastically like that in later zone for that to not be the case.
At least i have never see a game that would do that change that much.
Anyway yes you are right time will tell. We will see i'm waiting a few months before i go back into the game. Cos of all the bugs right now it's shame to play it as buggy as it is now, so i will wait.
IF nothing else mods are an option granted not the most optimal one cos mods come with downsides as well.
