I dont use artifacts.
I don not know if this is a bad thing, but somehow i don't use any of the artifacts at all. I just sell them everytime, when i got one.

Will this be a problem later in the game or do they have dramatic impact on the diffuculty of the game?

In the beginning, using artefacts is difficult due to the combination of radiation emission and few slots. Later on, you will find suits with enough slots to equip radiation-absorbing artifacts that allow you to equip the other ones, and even radiation-nullifying slots that allow you to equip one artifact with zero radiation emitted from it.

Also, some quest givers will buy specific artifacts from you at much better prices than what the standard vendors will, so it pays to keep at least one per type in your stash just in case.

There is no problem not using artifacts, that's entirely up to you.

Though i would recommend using atleast one that protects against radiation ;)

Artifacts are just stat bonuses and are not required for anything.

These are all the bonuses that can come from artifacts;

Endurance; (Stamina+Regeneration)
Weight: (+Max Carry Weight)
Physical: (Physical Anomaly Damage Reduction)
Chemical: (Chemical Anomaly Damage Reduction)
Electric: (Electric Anomaly Damage Reduction)
Thermal: (Thermal Anomaly Damage Reduction)
Radiation: (Absorb or Emit Radiation)

These bonuses range from Weak to Maximum.

An artifact with Maximum Radiation protection can cancel out an artifact with Maximum Radiation emission.

Thanks for the replys, i only have 12 Hours so far and having more Carry weight would be a good thing to choose.

To the artifacts that gives radiation damage, also cause damage on the gear?

i only use the anti-rad ones, once i found some of the more advanced armours like the SP99, i just stack anti rad and bleed res. then i found SSP-100M SIRCAA and oh my lord, this is a monster of an armour

So using artifacts before you have anti radiation slots on your suite or anti radiation artifacts themselves is difficult , artifacts are generally easier to use mid to late game. but they are a huge part of stalker and if you don't use them later on then yes, you are playing the game wrong, as you can get all types of defensive gains, more importantly you can get weight carry increase and endurance gains and they stack quite nicely so you can run around longer and regen stamina instantly. aswel as carry loads more alongside new suites.

So idealy you want to start with a liquid rock which should come from chemical anomoly areas they come with a radiation maximum defense positive alongside chemical maximum defense so thats a artifact to look at getting to enable you to equip another stronger or weaker artifact, keep in mind even maximum defense has it's limits on how much it can cancel out. so for example a maximum radiation defense will not keep the radiation at bay if you over equip artifacts. WEAK/MEDIUM/STRONG/MAXIMUM are the strengths

Also artifact hunting is a big part of stalker too and its very easy once you start learning the spawns and picking up artifacts for coupons after emissions. Yes artifacts respawn at certain locations after emission storms. there are some huge mission rewards for artifact hunting and generally farming artifacts makes you rich.

Until you get a Diamond exoskeleton fully upgraded

I sold them as well. Until I was able to get lead containers.

The anti bleed artifacts are insane once you get endgame suits. Suits provide so much physical protection and armor is so busted, that the only way you really take damage from bullets is the bleeding wounds you get even if you get shot for 0-1 damage. Put on a couple bleed resistance artifacts and then even that weakness goes away.

The "weird Ball" artifact is a great in the early game
It reduces bullet damage, when standing still, without drawbacks

Jesus christ i really feel stupid now, i also dont know what kind of effects all my artifacts had

Not at all mate, that's completely normal as soon as you loot the right combinations of them you can use them. you can speed up the process by hunting them, like i said liquid rocks are great early if you can get lucky. and no you shouldn't feel bad you don't have the greatest scanners early game either.

Everything in its own time.

Artifacts have pros and cons. You'll have to determine on your own which ones will best suit your needs and play style. Or, just sell them.
