type of ammunition
hey stalker I noticed that there were different types of ammunition: flat ammunition, expansive ammunition. I don't understand anything. Can you explain to me what is better between FMJ Armor piercings, flat expansive

FMJ is the regular ammo that doesn't one thing great.
Armor Piercing pretty much says what it does on the tin, good for punching through armor
Expansive is for targets with minimal armor and good for soft-tissue damage
Flat is for accuracy and range and more for sniping
I typically carry a armor piercing for my AKM-74U (short to medium range) and AR416 (Medium to Longer range) while I use a Firecracker and buckshot for mutants.

Baseline bullets are fine for normal enemies, like bandits etc.
Flat shoting ammo is for long range, as it has not that much drop.
Armor Piercing ammo is great for enemies with... armor like the name says, its best use is against Mutants (They sport a rather high natural armor) or heavily armored enemies, monolithians, ward, malachite etc.
Expanding Bullets are for maximum damage, but struggle with armor, they are endgame variety of the normal ammo, if you can afford it. At best use it against rather unarmored targets.

Non standard ammo types will also damage your gun at a faster rate.

so for mutants I use expanding ammo it's not the right one I should use piercing ammo ?

Most mutants are heavily armored. Use AP ammo.

If you want a real simple, no thinky tl;dr for ammo with the current balance of the game, armor piercing is really good against medium and larger mutants and exo suit wearing NPC's, and FMJ is really great against NPC's and small mutants. To dumb it down even further, you can just rock one gun with high mag capacity and cheap, common fmj rounds to use as your anti NPC gun, and one gun with high power AP rounds to use as your anti mutant gun.

In the lesser zone and garbage i would save up all the Armor Piercing ammo you can, so you van use it later on wen you encounter armored enemy,s

For Large Mutants use Expanding Ammo, as there not armored and that type off ammo does the most damadge, so again try to save up as much as you can, later on your gonna need it.

Flat (longer range) is basicly only usefull for long range weapons like sniper guns or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, can be usefull at anytime but i prefered to use Armor Piercing with my Sniper rifles.

Gauss Ammo you want to save till atleast Red Forest/Yaniv if you managed to get the Gauss Early, one shot kill on all targets, exept Chimera, wich takes to wel placed shots, and the Pseudogiant wich takes multiple shots.

RPG is a bit useless, doesnt do as much damadge as you expect.

Underbarrel Grenades i would stock up a little also, but there not really usefull as theres no Grenade sights on some weapons unlike the earlier games.

Huh. I've been using hollow points (expansive) against mutants. Rhino loaded with them kills a controller or burer with just few shots. Have i been doing it wrong?
