Overpovered "Skif's PTM".
Hey everyone. I wish the developers would see this thread. I think the main character's starting pistol is an overly powerful weapon that needs to be weakened. It practically never breaks, weighs several times less than other pistols, is extremely cheap to repair, and is not inferior in damage to other pistols (it has the same damage as the .045 ACP UDP Compact - what?!) - and other pistols are simply irrelevant because of it. Especially with a silencer and an extended magazine. Damn it, it's just a "Makarov pistol"!

This is foolproof. Last chance weapon. It is made to make things a little easier for players. The problem is not the gun, but that the game is still too easy. With it, without it

Yes, Skif's Makarov is a very fine weapon. It's damage is still limited by firing 9x18mm and armored enemies will shrug off rounds from it later. It's mostly good for rats and zombies.
If anything other guns need to be buffed instead of nerfing the mighty Mak.

You could just not use it, and leave it sittign in your pack for the cutscenes.

I think it is an obvious attempt to give the player an early, reliable weapon. I understand the mechanical reasons why and I don't hate it. I barely use it, just sell it and get another.

A lot of great games give you the best gun at the start. The plasma cutter from Dead Space immediately comes to mind. Stalker 2 is just another one in the list. The PM is a good all-rounder with common ammo, light weight, high durability, accurate, powerful enough, and is cheap to repair. Why is this a problem?

Just use others if you want and return to glorious Nikolay Makarov when you tire of the alternatives.
The knife is even more powerful, doesn't use ammo, and never needs repaired.

Don't like it? Then sell it.
Problem solved.

Haven't tried it on current patch (1.02) but having a gun immune to burer shens was a pleasant incidental discovery I made when I once ran out of grenades.

You can't sell it or even take it out of your inventory as far as I can tell.

I wouldn't have cared if not for that.

The issue is that other handguns are under powered... The weapon balancing is really bad in general.... A shotgun is better than assault rifles, can use it on everything in the game, doesn't suck ammo or get high repair costs. I still use the shotgun you get from the main story with a magazine. Tried using an assault rifle on flesh mutants, lost 50 rounds and the weapon degraded to 80%.... 1- 2 fleshes.

WoW 100% true, I haven't had to use any other pistol besides this... very funny and amusing balancing choice.

To be fair shotguns have always been the go to for mutants... but I will agree the weapon balance feels really off.
