Survive an Emission outside?

Hi,
is there a way to survive an Emission outside? I was really far away from a hideout when the warning came in, I was never able to get there in time before the emission hits the land. Is there a way to survive it? In a normal house its not possible right?

Nope, gotta follow the marker to a safe place, if it's too far away to get to in time like it can often be in some areas (looking at you swamp, no I'm not talking about the scripted one) then you'll have to load a previous save to make it to a safe place in time.

An underground pipe would shield you from emissions too.
