What I like to do every morning, is turn on Stalker, put it on Veteran and crouch-jump.
Amazing exercise.
Serious question: what were you guys expecting since the previous games were already walking simulators, and that we knew that S2 would have a 64 sq.km map with no vehicles and very limited fast travel (e.g guides) ?
STALKER was always about the Zone (exploring it, dying in it, whatever). Fast travel isn't an option for that very reason (and wasn't either in the previous games), as it would defeat the point. On top of that, Skif already runs faster than Usain Bolt despite having dozens of kgs of gear on the back.
A survival FPS doesn't have to be tedious and inconvenient.

I know, it sounds like I am coping, but it is true.
If you look at the life of a wanderer/scavanger you will find it is much the same.
Death Stranding, for instance, also has a ton of walking (at least in the beginning).
See this game more like that and less like Fallout 4 and you will understand the underlying design decisions better I think.
I do understand it is a game that might not be for all but if it where more "normal" then it would not be for fans of the original game.
