Mutants Achievement Question
Asking the players who are further than me into the game (which is around halfway), there were Chimera and Pseudogiant scripted sequences in the game thus far, in both cases you're not meant to kill them per se, but in the first instance run away as fast as you can, and in the second to ignore the battlefield as you're very overwhelmed by enemies in that point during the SIRCAA attack.

Would anybody happen to know if these mutants in particular can be found on the open world map during non-scripted sequences, allowing them to be killed at your own pace for the 'kill every type of mutant' achievement?

Also, if there are any other scripted mutants I haven't seen down the line, without naming them, are those also available in the open world?

TL;DR, is the kill every type of mutant achievement missable if you do not kill the mutants on your first encounters during the scripted sequences or do you get a chance to do this in certain locations they can spawn in?

If its supposed to be like the first games, you can find all mutants out in the open world. Some might be found easier in certain regions etc etc. HOWEVER after running around Garbage for 3-4 hours opening stalker stashes.. I realized I'm not getting any spawns for any mutants unless is scripted story missions or scripted stash openings which spawn a blood sucker. Not encountering packs of dogs, boars anything.

Ive fought more bloodsuckers than every other mutant type combined and they are supposed to be rare like deathstalkers from Fallout,,

Yeah, the overabundance of Bloodsuckers is a little unfortunate, they're way too tanky at the start of the game, later down the line you get weapons to deal with them (semi-auto shotguns are king, because you can get 4-5 shots at it in one go). Playing on Veteran I finally have the chance to kill them in 2 shooting sprees when they approach me.

This was something I already felt coming when they put you up against a Bloodsucker in the very intro of the game, in my mind I went "oh, so this is their flagship", it kind of set things up moving forward.

I hope that there are locations where you can get a Chimera, Pseudogiant and that irradiated deer I killed in that one quest line to spawn for the achievement, and also to just have a chance to fight them again.

It would be very unfortunate if they spent this much time on designing the mutants and animating them and you only get to see them once, and instead see the Bloodsuckers 500x times over.

You can totally kill all mutants, by progressing the story you will see them all, I don't know however if Pseudogiant and Chimera keeps spawning after the story spawns... I think I got 3 or 5 total spawns for them, but I can't remember if they were mission related or not. I finished the game 2 times by now.

Garbage doesn't have any mutants spawn that's been seen and confirmed by some modders, after you do all the side quests and such, I don't know about other regions of the zone.

Really unfortunate to be honest, in order to make it somewhat an enjoyable experience after you finished the story to get all the finales, and you just wanna roam the map to complete everything, it's kinda immersion breaking not killing any more mutants except dogs or bloodsuckers, I think there are mods that fixes this tho.

I think, if they're planning DLC for later down the line, they will likely fix this in a year or two, as it will incentivise people to complete the DLC while continuing playing the game after the finale. It's just one of the things on their list I'm sure which will get patched at some point, I just think there are currently more pressing issues they're working on before we get there.

Since I made this post I actually answered my own question, as part of the main quest you get to verse the Chimera again, where you actually need to beat it to progress.

Chimera is 4th round on the Arena
And there's also a presugiant fight in the side quest of the Red Forest

I've also found Chimera once in openworld, which was not scripted.

There are fixed spawns for chimeras that are not bound to any mission. I found atleast 3 of them. 4 if you count the troll chimera (you know exactly which one i mean when you find it).
All pseudogiants i saw where in missions tho.

Yep, just finished the arena and as I write this am literally in the side mission you're talking about.

I hope there are more opportunities to fight the new deer thing as well, the first time around I killed it way too quick but it seemed to be doing some cool stuff.

ive encountered an irradiated deer as part of a main quest in zaton, a side quest in red forest and a spawn in the pripyat apartment complex where you do the mission one shot from CoP.

Ive also encountered one pseudo giant as part of a main quest with Dark, in prometheous movie theatre in Pripyat where youll also find a gauss gun and one pseudogiant in the place where the rostok barkeep tells you to go kill bandits.

you will also encounter a chimera in zaton near a rail tunnel. this tunnel is the one that faces SIRCAA. theres also one spawn in pripyat near stingray 7.

Pretty sure the spawn rates on all of these are very very very low . ive yet to encounter any higher tier mutant out in the open randomly.

Chimera, can be found in the wild, not sure if it can spawn purely randomly or just in a couple of predetermined areas (ie: a railway tunnel near SIRCAA) its also is part of an arena fight/challenge where you need to 1v1 it.

As for the big guy, found one in the wild inside a bandit camp guarding an anomaly (for 1v1), also came across one when i visited SIRCAA in a mission.

I really wasn't expecting that one, based on the name of the location....

Bloodsucker village. Here I am thinking time to bloody some bloodsuckers, and out pops one of the biggest and most dangerous thing possible. I kind of wanted to shove that damn guitar up the one guys ass for that ♥♥♥♥ or something else equally violent and humiliating.

I haven't seen this location so I took the spoiler hit, but honestly that sounds hilarious, something I would have definitely laughed at if I got to experience it for myself for the first time.

It's genuinely the one rare case where the overabundance of bloodsuckers actually sounds like it helps the moment stand out, because you go in expecting the 'headcrab' of Stalker 2 and instead get a ridiculously overpowered final boss.
