I played all of the old STALKER's and I feel the 2nd lives up to those, and exceeds them too.
The open-world map is great, no loading screens like some other dev I could mention. Only loading screens are when first launching the game, and then if you die. Otherwise the entire map appears to be wide open and seamless.
I am new to the series and honestly after 15 hours I almost gave up on it...but once i left the first area I got into the game and its incredible, 9/10 from me as well.
Hands down, GOTY. Without a doubt.
Yeah its frustrating that so many people are having technical issues. Im lucky to be playing it flawlessly and its too bad so many people cant enjoy the game as intended as its so damn good when you can just sit back and enjoy it. Hopefully they can iron out all these issues for everyone else.
Definitely resembles a more mature and grounded Fallout FPS with the exploration elements. I do wish there was a little more variety in the enemy types, weapons and armor, but mods will likely fix that.
On the technical side, the game definitely performs like older Bethesda games. Plenty of stuttering, crashing, freezing and annoying AI issues.
Stalker is like... Keshi i don't know. It's just a good game
Game runs fine btw...just a good game that's really frustrating
Indie developers are pushing out better games than companies with millions of dollars, which is ridiculous.
AI is stupid as hell.
Some quests cannot be completed due to sripting errors.
Mutants are still fat if you compare to the previous games.
Quests are boring and most of them aren't as deep as those we had in CoP.
Economy is still garbage (traders buy things from you for 12% of its cost).
World feels dead because there's no A-life and when you move past 100 meters from a group of stalkers... Well, they disappear forever.
And yeah. AI is garbage if you compare it ti previous games. Do you need an example? Well, here it is:

5 dead stalkers vs 1 pack of not moving rats.
