Report a translation problem
When I talk to Gaffer and complete the mission, no “Monolithian” appears outside the brick building, but when I leave the city of Zalissya, Gaffer calls again on the radio to defend Zalissya. So I go into the brick building and the “Gaffer” is somewhere else, sitting at the table behind Warlock's, in the room where there's a painting on the wall. When I open the Side missions screen, it tells me that I've failed to “eliminate” the monolithian scouts, which is optional. At that same moment, when I leave the brick building and leave Zalissya, the Gaffer says on the radio that Zalissya is over, dead.
I have the exact same issue. It shows I failed to eliminate the scouts too. When I go back to defend zylissya after the second call, I have a broken GP37 appear in my hands. I get back and the attack never happens, and Gaffer is nowhere to be found. When I leave he radios that the town has fallen.
I just decided to just not save my game and stopped playing until this gets fixed again.
I reloaded a save just before a returned with the surgical equipment, and moved on to something else. The mission is in limbo for now. Hopefully this bug will be addressed in the next patch.
1. The doors still lock; both the Town Hall (with monolith in it) and the cellar where Hamster/Ricochet are.
2. Even if you get the doors open, like I did, and kill monolith you will still be unable to complete any optional side quests.
3. I could not talk to Warlock to retrieve the weapon or talk to hamster.
4. I could not talk to the doctor to heal Lens (lens died).
5. I could not talk to Ricochet to save Hamster.
6. Once I left the first assault, the second one immediately kicked off and concluded where 2 Warlocks spawned inside the building.
I was able to complete the quest but only 60% of the way since I had all the aforementioned issues and lost Hamster, Ricochet, and Lens. Zalissya is a glorified pit-stop now.
I love this game, and I've had a fun 70 or so hours of playtime. However, this very specific quest absolutely slaughtered my enjoyment/immersion in the game. I'd say it's something critical that they need to resolve above almost any other glitch or bug. Sure, A-Life has spawning issues, sometimes you don't consume things even though it goes through animation et cetera. None of those issues are as painful as going to complete a side mission and being forced to fail 5/7 objectives due to game-breaking bugs which hamstring any ability to complete it. I had a similar issue with Solder in The Sphere dying or the optional quest failing with him, but nothing is as bad as the "Defend Zalissya" bug.
For me it's Hamster and Lens dead + no Warlock gun. Probably going to do the same sometime in the future; another run. I know I want to go strictly Ward for a run, but I'd prefer saving Zalissya as my current save where I'm more Spark/Malachite/Noontide.
Second, Hamster wasnt talking to me, he just started blasting right away, no bargain no dialoge etc.
