Will frame generation push me from medium to high?
I have a 3060 with a 10700k and 32GB of RAM. On all medium settings with DLSS quality I can hold about 45-50 FPS with rare drops.

If I were to turn frame generation on, can I move some settings to high while maintaining the same performance? I've never used frame generation so I am not sure how much of an effect there is

You won't be able to use DLSS frame gen on your 3060. But AMD's does work. It's about a 10-15 frame loss from what DLSS can put out generally but it ususally almost is a 50% boost.

If you do use frame generation, just make sure to turn on Nvidia Reflex, really helps with the latency. Also after loading the game, let it sit for a moment or two, seems like FG smooths out if you wait a bit.

That's been my experience anyway.

IIRC DLSS 3 and DLSS *frame gen* are different things.
Frame gen is 3X and 4X series card feature so he should be able to use it (unless I'm wrong)
Thing is....it also increases input latency.
I think that CPU might need an upgrade though.

frame gen is only available on 4000 series.

Yeah my bad.
I remembered Nvidia saying they would (might?) backport it to 3X series.

DLSS Framegen is, but not FSR3 frame gen I have a 3070 and can run it

Not in Stalker.... they added FSR Frame Gen working with DLSS and thats awansome and working on any GTX 16** + Card. Ofc this system have some bugs but still better have 120 FPS than 60

Update:
I've just started a new game and arrived in Zalissya. With generation on and medium-high settings (good amount on high) I bounce around 82-100FPS in that area. I also have the most popular Nexus mod installed if that means anything.

AMDS frame gen works on any card, Nvidia's frame gen only works on 4000 series or newer

Yes you can, RTX 30 supports this.
Or use DLSS set to either Performance or Quality, then enable the AMD Frame Gen.
The NVIDIA Frame Gen = setting DLSS to DLAA which works on all RTX 30 and 40 series.

I wouldn't worry so much about the general game performance inside Zalissya; what is it outside of there is the question. If it drops to say 30 FPS when inside Zalissya, not a huge deal if it's a stable 50-100 or so outside of there.

Luckily outside of Zalissya I get 80-100 FPS depending on the area. Drops all the way down to 60 around large scripted fights or groups of people

Then I don't see a problem really. It's going to be rather normal for FPS to drop inside the bigger towns with so many NPCs and such.

Just be warned that input delay is still a thing, it's fine walking around but when moving the cursor it'll feel weird and slower, also the holographic scopes will also look weird.
Bad 💀 Motha Nov 30, 2024 @ 8:11pm
The scope issue is more of an issue regardless of FPS; it's the Frame Gen crap causing it.
