I personally enjoy the story, and I mean... given the amount of issues with the game I have, I'm kinda grateful that they didn't try to throw in things like a character creator and coop. It would be even more busted.
- As far as I know you can just wander around, if you want. I personally have put off the main quest for a long time. I'm just exploring the Cordon currently.
My biggest issue with it is that these are things that modders will do eventually and it's things that GSC could be doing themselves and gaining revenue through.
As for the second part of your response, I'm curious how you think a team that you don't think can handle co op will be able to handle making a pvp multiplayer experience. Because as we all know that is coming soon. A team that can't handle making co-op surely shouldn't be trying to make a pvp experience.
I have no faith in their PVP is the answer. I never played the multiplayer in the originals and haven't ever talked to anyone who has.
- I suspect I'll try it for 30 minutes and then never play it again, but who knows, maybe it'll be good.
It seemed to work about as well as the base games did. The people that played it appeared to enjoy it quite a bit.
I've seen they have a roadmap planned for release in december. Fingers crossed eh.
"Games are allowed to evolve, but only in the way I want"
Quite an entitled take, don't you think? This is already one of the MOST sandboxy stalker games yet (except maybe clear sky which had full faction roleplay). There isn't arbitrary zone transitions for most of the map - once you're done with the Lesser Zone prologue, you can go all the way to Yaniv up North, all the way west to Duga, and all the way East to Zaton/Swamps. Factions offer radiant quests, and you're motivated to explore further for artifacts and higher-level technicians.
It feels to me like you're in love with YOUR version of Stalker 2, and not at all the version that was advertised or marketed.
It was mainly about making the game in a way such that it can be expanded upon not just by modders but by the devs for a recurring source of revenue.
Nobody is complaining about Dragon's Dogma 2 having a character creator, so why would you complain about Stalker 2 having one?
The game is designed in a way that the story ends, the game ends. At least that's what I'm led to believe based on posts I've seen. I'm saying that for longevity and for revenue it would probably been in the best interest of GSC to have designed the game in a way which they could either let you create a character or play as a character from a predetermined pool of characters. The stories could then be determined by your actions and/or what character you selected.
This is kind of in the game with factions etc. but it's not as deep as it could have been and I believe that is missed opportunity for the developers. I'm sorry you misinterpreted the sentiment of the post.
What is entitled about a new game in a series FOURTEEN YEARS From the last entry (COP was 2010) evolving?
MUH DUDE.
2010 we barely had "smartphones" and tablets. 2010, there was no 3DS, now it's shut down.
That is a lot of time to stagnate.
