Crashing or having issues? Things for you to give a try.

For those having a problem there are a few things you can do.

*Verify the game files.

Delete these 3 config files to reset you hardware settings.
---UE5 issue, doesn't refresh configs after patches---

--------------------AGAIN THIS RESETS YOU GRAPHICS SETTINGS----------------------

*2 files are located in:
%localAppData%\Stalker2\Saved\Config\Windows\

GameUserSettings.ini
Engine.ini ---If you created it via tweaks or a mod----

*3rd file
%localAppData%\Stalker2\Saved\GameSettings\AppliedSettings.cfg


*DELETE YOUR MODS and check to see if there are updates for them.

The mods I used where updated to work with this patch.

-----------------------Other reported potential crash fixes-------------------------------

*Disable Frame gen/ FSR - there is a mod that addresses this-

*Clear your GPU's shader cache

*Starting a new game, * just in case backup your old saves * The saves could be bugged due to a multitude of reasons, glitched PDA's, bugged active quests, glitched inventory items so on.

*Overlays possibly causing memory leaks.
Steam overlay - can be disabled per game under properties
Nvidia App overlay - just exit program before running game
AMD - Disable Performance overlay/ tuning overlay


Will update as more potential fixes are known.

Yeah it does, actually. This is the second time I had to delete the config files to run the game properly. First time was after the day 1 patch rolled out, which was hours after launch. Because I played before the patch, I got the black crush issue, making everything way to dark and dim. Deleted the config files and bingo fixed the issue.

This is a known problem for UE5.

You still need to delete these 2 config files, it's a long standing UE issue.

%localAppData%\Stalker2\Saved\Config\Windows\GameUserSettings.ini

Ehh what ? OP describes how to handle crashes and not a buggy menu ....

Well I do have 2 to give, Firstly, not to be a D!@k to someone trying to help one out and 2 you could try and delete these folders ( Config, Crashes. Gamesettings, IMGUI. LOGs ) in %localAppData%\Stalker2\Saved\

Just don't delete the steam folder, that's your saves, you could also try renaming the steam folder and running the game to see if that fixes it as well if all else fails. If that works then it's something to do with the saves.

Also: If you have followed the tip by GSC to start the game in Admin mode. *DONT*!!!!!!! -> Don't start it with Admin priv. Else it will fail to boot up.

I haven't had that issue, nor have i tried to talk to a trader yet, I was modded so let me see, i'll get back to you.

The correct process in this instance would be Start game -> Realize its messed up -> Close game -> Delete files mentioned in post -> Start game -> Change Settings -> Close game -> Start game -> Results with the settings you had before you started.

Any better? Worse? No change?
