Report a translation problem
Go to Dire Thicket and lure Bloodsucker all the way up to Zalyssia. He is tied up to his location, so he won't fully enter the town, but he will reset this flag that "enemies nearby" and door will unlock
1. Save before you get to town, after you hear calls for help. Just in-case.
2. Get to town, you'll hear gun shots, there are corpses in the trading store. The ward should be attacking near the Ward building. Kill them.
3. Talk to Gaffer and Warlock, they wont say much at all. But you get a quest to check on Uncle Leonya.
4. Run all the way down to the house 900m south, do the objetives there. Take out any enemies, come back.
5. Town should be under attack but quest should update.
6. Nothing will really progress after you kill any enemies (if they spawn). But leaving town will immediately trigger "second attack" phase.
6.5. You can kill the monolith scouts on the hill before talking to Gaffer. Defend the town if enemies spawn, then leave town.
7. Turn around and head back into town, as it will be under attack again. Kill the monolith this time. There should be a voice trigger that you've defended the town. You may fail optional objectives like kill scouts in this phase.
8. Again talk to Gaffer and Warlock, it appears to have progressed stuff but you'll notice a bunch of blue flags.
9. Go to blue flags and kill the enemies that are just chilling there. There could be 5-10 of them. A voice trigger should have played at some point saying you saved the town.
10. Talk to gaffer/warlock again. Nothing happens -> leave town, this time heading towards Slag heap for example. About 300-400m away a bunch of voice triggers will tell you that failed and Zalyssia is gone. Then a voice trigger will play that you shot at them and are not welcome back. Then a voice trigger will play that you defended the town and saved them.
11. Heading back to town and talk to gaffer and warlock. This time they've changed positions and have new things to say. Town is a saved but its pretty much a ghost town.

Thankfully was able to progress & finish the quest after a couple of days of trying
Yup. That’s what I did. Just left them to their fate. I had to kite monolith soldiers from the Sphere near by and then kill them just outside the town just to get the doors to open. The whole quest is bugged. Best leave it for the next play through.
