You can fix it yourself like other people were able to repair their local problem like this:

• verify game files
  
• remove any and all mods
  
• don't run as administrator
  
• clear the shader cache (location depending on GPU vendor)
  
• let the game compile shader cache (don't deactivate the check)
  
• let the game check shader cache on each start (don't deactivate the check)

If everything is in order, the game works fine.

This lateste patch 1.0.3 is causing the crash. Before it, high FPS, no bugs, no crashes. After it, random crashes after few minutes trying to play, FPS dropped about 25% and a lot of bugs. It's unplayable on the current state.

No, the game still crashes using any of the "fixes" mentioned above. Just a bug in the game code and have to wait until devs patch it. It's a broken game for a lot of people

Best not only wait but get in contact with the devs and report your problem via their bugtracker. Otherwise you might not get your situation resolved. Above hints are a collection of stuff which indeed helped people to sort out their local installion problems. Some of them aren't even game specific - they are basic Steam troubleshooting stuff.

Not had any crashes since the game came out. I tried it again yesterday and no issues on epic everything 2k. Locked at 60fps. Barely even uses the cpu. Gpu hitting high of 84% now and then. Vram usage not much over 50% and ram around 55%. It's empty having said that and a bit boring but haven't seen any issues. Compiling shaders takes around 30 to 40 seconds

Enjoy your Unreal Engine 5 slop. It doesn't get better from here. Amazing how I left the game paused for 5 minutes and continued to crash despite being on a fresh install.

People tend to forget what they did and come here yelling. That's why I added it. Disabling this has a very high risk because some people just copy&paste "fixes" and don't understand what those are about. It's basic troubleshooting what is listed here - rule out every anomaly caused by unsupported modifications.

Yes anytime you use Mods and a game updates, be prepared to remove those mods if you have issues and most Mods may require yo be updated for new game patch

I had this for the first time yesterday as well. 3 Crashes in a row. Exited Steam, closed browser which was open in the back ground, started up Steam & game & played for about 40 minutes .. but, work called. So I'll try more tonight. No mods here btw.
