My OCD too, doesn't like the pronunciation of "PSI" in game.

I thought that at first when the scientist in the Shelter hub said it, i thought it was the voice actor goofing up.

But every NPC says it that way, so it's clearly the intentional pronunciation.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced like that because it's not "Psy" as in "Psychic" it's Psi as in Ψ the letter in the greek alphabet.

That link should be a timestamp for 3:03 in the video showing you how Psi is pronounced

It's confusing because many games use psi or psy the same way, always pronounced "sigh" and always referring to psychic energy or some kind.

Like the 2004 game "Psi-ops" using that spelling very specifically to do wordplay on a real life term that's all pronounced "sigh-op"

But Psi is greek alphabet and meant to be pronounced as "see" and it does seem like that's a very deliberate choice, even though the psi-energy in the game is clearly related to some form of psychic power lol.

It should probably be called "Psy-energy" and pronounced as expected, it would make more sense.

Ukranian voices with English subtitles is the best way to go.

I agreed. But the backdraw is that i have to read everything instead of being able to listen and do light reading if there is alot of background noise.

I just took it as how it is said in their area. 'I' sounds like EH or so in japanese, so it could just be a cultural thing that carried over. It caught me off guard for a sec, but meh.

You know the difference in pronouncing the "E" and "I" begins, when one leaves mainland europe and reaches the UK already.

It refers to "psionics", which has a very different pronounciation in european languages compared to english and american english.

It is a cultural difference, considering the origination of the game and the world clearly it is "p-see" for you english native speakers ;)
But i see this as another form of metric vs. imperial systems, just on a language basis :D

I get where you are coming from but if you are playing with the English VO it should say "sigh" and with the Ukrainian VO i would understand them saying "see" it just feels weird hearing "see" cause in my head when i read it i say "sigh" as with every other gamer ive talked to about this

Not in many other languages, might be a force of habit for some of the speakers. Btw the non-english voiceover is better.

It baffles me why none of the voice actors stopped to say to whoever is recording, hang on this is being pronounced wrong. I've never heard psi pronounced as "see". It's "sigh".
