Pre-order version of VS vintar is literally worse tahn normal item

I had both of them on hand so i checked, and the Veteran not only weights more, but also cant have laser pointer upgrade. I find it weird that a bonus item would be strictly worse than a normal one.

The journalist explicit says that his caches gear is not the best compared to what he has seen in the zone :)
BUT some of them are OP in the early stages of the game.

No you don't. You can get both Veteran as VS Vintorez at the same location.

Pretty sure the Vintorez is sold at Rostok. The Veteran is found somewhere in the first or second newbie zone.

I've found VSS on soldiers/loners in the Lesser Zone. You can absolutely get the regular variant sooner than the pre-order one. Course, Veteran is more stylish, but it'd be nice if it had at least *something* special going for it sans looks & increased weight.

The VS Vintorez is broken though when you first find a copy of it, the journalists stash is obviously fully repaired. It takes like 18k coupons to repair it+you probably dont have that much ammo for it to start with.

I personally do not like the journalist stash items as a lot of the items are superior to what you can find in game which makes the whole quest OP if you want a more vanilla experience through the zone.

The Journalist quest & stashes is a nice way to distribute these Deluxe and Ultimate edition gear pieces. If you do not want to use those items in later playthroughs, you can just ignore the quest and do not loot the stashes.

No u dont, u can randomly find it on guys, i know there is a cache with normal VS, and trader at rostok sells it. And i dont mind journalist items not OP, but why u gotta make it worse than basic is beyond me. Even literally the same weapon with some paint on it would be better than finding this piece of ♥♥♥♥

just found it, fully upgraded (without the blueprint ones ofc) the veteran weights 2.45, the regular 2.59.
perhaps this was "fixed" with 1.0.1, can't say, but now Veteran is slightly better (unless some hidden mechanics are in play)

Yeah, it's so frustrating. I don't mind it even being exactly the same as basic version with just a visual difference... but making it *worse*? Come on... that is such a spit in the face to the stalker fans who pre-ordered the game.
