80% Positive Reviews... Really?
How does this game get 80% positive reviews with the current optimization issues, outright unstable engine with memory leaks and softlocking bugs that prevent completion of the main story without dev tools?

I don't understand. I ask genuinely, because as a Stalker fan I bought this game in Ultimate Edition and I really genuinely don't understand where 80% positive reviews come from. If this was a Bethesda game and they released a broken mess like this, the game would be downvoted to oblivion in a matter of hours.

If the game was marked as Early access - Early Beta and they charged maybe 30 bucks (or more for supporters, whatever), I could understand the review scores. But now? Full release? in this state? Come on.

Well guys, I banned the OP for political provocations on this very thread.

If you don't like the game as it is right now, that's OK and you can say it freely on the forum. I hope to see you happier with the Zone later.

But this thread turned into offtopic, political provocations and even threats. I'm closing it.

Because the atmosphere, vibe, and ambition this game gives off from what is pretty much an indie dev is 100x better than milquetoast Bethesda cheese, or other AAA with shoehorned or obvious "modern audience" (is there even such a thing?) pandering aesthetics. It's just straight forward with some oldschool focused gameplay that hits a particular immersive sim / atmospheric / anomalous vibe. And within that niche we are hungry for games like this, so even if it needs some work, it deserves all the positive reviews. I put it in a similar category with Deus Ex, or Prey, niche immersive sim/ atmospheric exploration / RPGs, but for whatever reason they don't get enough support by the publishers because they don't sell like GTA5 or Call of Duty. I also put it in a similar category as Control and Alan Wake because it goes for a type of weird science fiction/horror/cosmic horror niche that I love and slwant more of. I don't mind it's not perfect, but I support it fully because I want more games in this vein and know that it will just take some time for them to sharpen it up. They have a roadmap of 2 expansions of content and multiplayer still, so I support that and want it to succeed.

Ah yea, another one of skills issue (git gut , noob etc ... )

I guess you are the lucky one with no problems at all.
But still , please explain to me why the "gameplay loop" is solid ?

For me personally, the part of the main quest that I was allowed to play was very engaging.
But everything in between just feels boring. It feels empty.

Perhaps my expectations were simply too high.

I mean, what did you expect of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game? If you expected CoD, you were gonna be sorely disappointed. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has always been about the exploration of the game world and surviving the harshness of The Zone.

Might just be that you are stupid.
And what do I need to survive in the Zone? Emptiness? Or enemies spawning 2 inches behind you? It can't be thirst as you only get hungry, and for hunger you have 200 breads and sausages in your inventory, and if you get attacked you just use some of your 300 medikits.

The only thing you have to survive is the unrealistic economy.
People acting like it's a hardcore survival game, maybe it was many years ago, now it's just a casual shooter.

He's getting upset that people are treating him like a hater when acting like a hater. If he wants people to take his criticisms of the game seriously, he should be able to, rather eloquently, explain what it is about the game that is bad.

Saying the game has "poor combat AI" is not a good reason when, in my experience, outside of a few instances of the AI bugging out, the AI seems perfectly fine. They use grenades to try and flush me out of hiding spots, they attempt to flank me when they can, and the overall experience is one that I greatly enjoy. What part of that is "poor"? I have no idea because he's not explained that.

Sorry that I expect criticisms to be more than "game bad. dun liek."
Sorry, he didn't add "generic AI swarm tactics" next to "bad AI" for your brain to activate.
You already know what the issues are, you're just lying.

They have to defend the company that doesn't care about them so they can get good boy points.

I agree 100% with your statement. But given the current state of the game, I kinda lost the momentum and realized how far we actually are from a true complete and satisfying Stalker 2 the way it was promised and the way so many of us pictured and waited so much and for so long.

For me it seems like you are trying to insult me, which invalidates all your posts ....
But lets get back to exploration and all that nice stuff you said.

For me personally, there is nothing to explore, cause everything is just empty. Find another loaf of bread ? Or more Vodka ? Thats not a solid "gameloop" (whatever gameloop even means)

I also never complained the game being to hard or to harsh. For me its just empty.

But If you like the game (and I bet you do) , thats fine.
Just imagine how much better it could be ....

How would you make the game better?

This is a personal preference:
I would like to see more life in the zone (it will be probably change if they fix (or add) the A Life system)
I know the zone should be harsh, every emission kills a lot of people and thats why is should be empty. But for gameplay sake its boring that way.

Obv. all necessary optimization steps

More lore , like the PDA entries we used to have.

It is not, it is just the Far Cry in Stalker universe.

Plagued by bugs, bad performance and empty map.
