Invisible enemies
I never really played the original stalker so I have no frame of reference. How prevalent are these invisible enemies in the game? I'm barely into the game and have already encountered 2 different invisible enemies. I killed the first one but it sapped all my ammo. The second one at the boat area just kills me. I don't have enough ammo for these bullet sponge enemies that I can't see.

Honestly, I don't find these enemies all that interesting or fun and they feel like a cheap gimmick for the sake of "difficulty" or something. Other than this I'm loving the game but I'm just wondering if it's just going to be non-stop invisible enemies throughout the game? If so i can't see myself enjoying this too much. On the other hand if it's just every once in a while I can probably push through these parts.

many enemies have a gimmick you don't normally see in classic shooters. The first "invisible" one is a bloodsucker. Those are "uncommon" enemies but they are everywhere. They get a bit easier with better weapons but still, better to get used to it.

Don't want to spoil you other enemies, but you won't see them coming either. And not every enemy fights with LOS. Some will try to stay away from you while trying to kill you.

First of all I'm stuck in the tutorial. The first invisible enemy drained my ammo. I don't appear to have enough ammo to kill the second one and it's at the point of me advancing the story.

Aside from that I was not asking if it was "normal" to have them. I understand they were in the first game. I was asking how prevalent these enemy types are in the game.

If you encounter them every so often that's one thing but if the whole game is just fighting these invisible enemies frequently this isn't going to be a fun experience for me so was trying to save myself the trouble.

boat area? thats poltergeist probably , not really worth killing . avoid mutants that you can if you really want to fight them shotguns or hunting rifle does the trick . Those invisible ones are called bloodsuckers , once you start to upgrade gear they gonna be nothing but random pests , there are far more powerful mutants in the game :happybs: to kill firs bloodsucker just dodge as he charges you and shoot ak at him , 2 clips and he is dead , there is a poltergeist at boat area , just skip him , no loot worth mentioning there

also, you don't need to fight everything. Mutants don't have loot and are waste of ammo.

looks like you are facing a poltergeists or blood suckers, poltergeists are not invisible completely since they are marked as the blue electric orb flying around, but blood suckers are a huge pain in the ass.

As for how prevalent they are, not very much in the OG Stalker since they are considered mid-tier enemy, and you're not supposed to fight them early on when low on resources ( you still can, but the rewards aren't worth it), so running away is the best option.

Keep in mind A-life is currently not working as intended, so the rate they are spawned could have been affected by that.

You can bypass a lot of mutants. I usually do. The original games had a lot of cheese. I'm probably not supposed to jump onto something out of melee range and mag dump a creature in the face, but it felt like the only way at times.

How do I avoid it? The main quest (to i assume take me from the tutorial area) is right there? It seems to be wanting me to kill this thing? I don't actually know because I'm too busy dying to do anything else.

Stalkers rule number 1, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGHT EVERYTHING. When I encountered the poltergeist at the boat, I realized that fighting it was a waste of my time, I simply bypassed it and headed to the second scan location. Poltergeists attack very slowly, and their attacks are heavily telegraphed. Just avoid them if you can, use a shotgun if you can´t.

Those are bloodsuckers. They were easier in the previous games gameplay-wise. In the lore, they're one of the most dangerous mutants ever. So I like how they made them to be in this game. However, yes, fighting them can be hard
Play on a lower difficulty (there is NO achievements for playing on hard, afaik), if you hear a roar - run away somewhere safe or somewhere where there are other stalkers to help you with the fight. You can also jump to a high place, roof of the car or something like that, and be safe from them - and then shoot as they run past you, eventually they'll die.

The main mission tells you to go there doesn't it? Isn't that the 2nd scan location? Maybe it wasn't and I was confused but I thought the mission was telling me to go there.

well, without more clues it's hard to say where you are at. But after you pick the first artifact and kill the first bloodsucker outside of lab, you continue, place the scanner, pass the wall with 3 or like humans, then there is a building with poltergeist you don't need to go into and continue to the cave where you place the second scanner (I think).

I'm don't thing there another bloodsucker in the tutorial.

Also, I've seen a post describing how to juke them: you have to sidestep to the left, because they strike your right side mostly. Just hold A and follow them with your weapon. When they uncloak to strike - they will miss, and you'll pop a couple of shotgun shells in their back.
Haven't tried this strategy myself, but sounds legit

Edit: forgot to add - you CAN see them when they're cloaked, they're not completely invisible but rather transparent. This could make it easier, you'll at least know where to aim!
