Never stopped anyone before, They just used fictional names. thats been the workaround for 95% of cases, (some companies like Glock are extremely litigous, and may require other measures) They just chose not to put it in the game.

in the old games, the L85 was the bottom tier of the 5.56 weapons, the lore explanation was that a lot of surplus and junk made its way into the zone via black market, L85A1 came in that way.

new game takes place in... 2021-2024 *unsure, I think its 2021* , over a decade of developments in the zone, different government and international sponsored groups came in, black market was taken over by freedom, all sorts of explanations why the guns changed.

if DLC or free updates dont bring new weapons, Modders will.

I for one, would like to see an expansion of the attachment system first. if it has rails, any rail sight should be able to fit on it, and those other attachments like coupled mags and such... should be more common, not limited to a single easter egg treasure
