Cool. I don't mind it, terribly, the way it is now. I actually think it was a pretty neat idea to have two items on one button. And it may have even prevented me from accidentally using the wrong item a few times.
If that's what you prefer, go for it. Although that's not quite what the intention of this post was. I was asking for the ability to bind the Quick Slots to 4 individual buttons. What buttons you want to use is up to you.
because of console controllers, many functions in the game have been divided between a "press" and "hold" option, and most mouse and keyboard players don't want to have to do this except for maybe a few instances (like using a medkit you found on the ground, unloading weapon, holding F to open a hatch, etc)
