Why no AK47?
I'm sure this has been asked and answered a thousand times. The AK47 is a staple of the region and SHOULD be the poster gun of the franchise.

They don't even use the same cartridge.

AKM family uses the 7.62x39mm
AK-74 family uses the 5.45x39mm

Actually, considering I have been finding alot of 7.62x39 rounds, I am pretty sure they might have it somewhere in the game. Isnt the assault rifle given to you by the warden commander at Garbage for siding with him a form of AK? I was pretty sure it was.

In eigther case, we have both the AKU and the AKM, both of which operate in near identical faction to the AK in performance characteristics in this game. Somewhere down the line, I am sure they will add the AK-47 specifically. The Zone was established during the Chernobyl incident in Ukraine while the USSR was still around, and, when considering the Soviet obsession with reusing old and proven designs over newer tech, it only makes sense that some surplus AK-47 rifles would be around the plant somewhere.

Also, being that the AK-47 designed in 1947, the patent would be over 77 years old now, and I am pretty sure that means its expired. So unless some company out there pulled a Disney and started trademarking weapon blueprints, the AK-47 should, by all means, be in the game if it isnt. Also, while on the topic of old guns, I am really surprised we arent seeing some more old US and Chinese guns in this game, being that so many stalkers come from around the world to visit the exclusion zone. I hope the devs consider adding weapons that are compatible with their existing ammo types like M-1911s, M-1 Garands, or maybe M-16s, RPDs, M-60s and other cold-war era guns.

Also, in a game where we can encounter pseudo-giant mutants, how is there no PTRS or PTRD 14.5x114 MM AT rifles? They would be perfectly at home in the stalker lore due to their prevalence after the end of WWII and how useful they would be for tackling larger threats in the zone. Make its ammo rare, of course, but it should at least be in the game,

The gun he gives you is a special AKM-74S, so still 5.45.

However the 7.62x39mm is for the RPM-74 LMG. But its some game-design ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The model in game is for one of the PK variants. Probably just the base model PK. But those are chambered in 7.62x54mmR.

The RPK never had an RPM model (as far as I know). But those are chambered in 7.62x39mm.

I can't quite tell the difference aside from using different round.
But then again, it's all looks the same to me so I'm not really good at it.
The AK203 and AK15 are 7.62x39 modernised AKs...

Better question is why is there no NVGs?
Why is there no NVG, Flashbangs, Concussion grenades, Molotovs, Flamethrowers, Mines, claymores / tnt / c4, bows, crossbows, US weapons of the ERA 1950-2025, or China, or France, or British. Why are there only 40 quests for "60km". Vehicles. Drones. Heavy Weapons. Static Gun positions. Why are 40% of the buildings / rooms closed off? Why are there so few enemy types after all these years? Why is there no point to killing mutants? Why are stashes containing the same loot? Why are "unique weapons" just modded weapons? Why do 90% of the NPCs have one line that is completely arbitrary instead of speaking about the surrounding area? Why is the entire wall of the zone abandoned? Why not show whats immediately surrounding the outside of the zone to be more creative with a wall thats actually alive.

Etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc until 2025.

yeah no nvg or binos is utterly crazy
It is a little sad, imo, that 7.62x39mm ammo is in the game but the only gun that uses it is for some reason a PKM (which fires 7.62x54mmR irl)
AK-47 so as AKM are pretty rare guns, as 7.62x39 ammo, comparing to 5.45 and ak74. It just makes no sense to use the older version of the gun, just like no sense to use some m16a1, when u have ar15.

The AK47 was developed in 1947. The AKM was developed in 1960. Different receiver, different stock. AKM is literally just a modernized AK47. Its crazy how you can be this wrong in the age of the internet

Once again, there is no such rifle as AK47, there never was. The official Soviet designation was simply AK, without indicating the year. Then they developed the modernized version of it, AKM.

AK was phased out even before the USSR collapsed. AKM, I believe, not completely. Therefore, having AKMs in the game would be more plausible.

That was all I wanted to say. Is this too difficult to comprehend?
