Is there a strategy for controllers?
I added psi block to my quick use items, but that just reduces damage, it probably helps but the damage output isn't the problem with controllers.

I just fought my first one as part of the main story, it felt so tedious it was like i must be doing something wrong?

They are far too tanky and spawn infinite hallucination dogs that do 1/4 of your hp if they touch you, on top of spawning infinite zombie hallucinations that do normal damage, they just despawn after you try and loot them.

Ok, I understand that, only kill what's absolutely needed for survival and focus on the controller itself.

But they spam that teleport grab thing faster than my reload animation can play out most of the time, you can't break their line of sight to stop it happening, he just pulls you through all walls and obstacles before throwing you back and in between all that the camera is shaky and impossible to aim 90% of the time anyway.

My solution was to just throw 25 grenades in and around it's general direction...it worked but the whole fight still felt like something was wrong.

Is there a way to stop it having that ability to keep teleporting you back and forth or are they meant to just be healing item sponges?

Psi block and armor with psi resistance is the first step. Next step is a good shotgun. Then swarm the controller (you will get 1 or two "psi hits" when closing in). Once you are at close range (not too close) their AI is busy with keeping distance from you. (if you are too close then they will hit you with melee attacks). That's the perfect time to unload the shotgun in his head. If it still stands, switch to the assault rifle and empty the clip into said head. If by bad luck it is still around - pistol.

You can either try to use line of sight to slowly pop shots at the controller if you are in safe space. If it is open or accessible location you are best to rush the controller and go berserk on him (as mentioned above). I can usually kill the controller in about 10 shells from my M860, which has magazine upgrade that holds exactly 10 shells. If I miss some shots, I might need to reload, which still takes ages even with the magazine upgrade.

I'm not sure AP ammo/slugs help or not against the controller. It definitely helps with bloodsuckers.

You can also try tossing grenades from a distance as you close on it. It might disrupt it or force it to move but I found grenade less useful since you can not cook them.

Go berserk with shotgun and / or explosives lol

So there isn't really a way to negate it's effects on the camera or stop that telekinetic grab?

I wouldn't be able to fire 10 shots off before it grabs me or screams to make the camera freak out.

Are you doing something in a way that lets you fire those 10 shots back to back? or are you just chugging healing items in between being thrown around?

When closing in I have to take one or two med kits (depending on how many enemies are around shooting at me). As I said - the controller won't hit you as soon as you are close. He is caught in evasive actions which give you all the time you need to empty your shotgun.

All the other enemies are just spawns - ignore them, focus the boss down, then deal with them afterwards. The controller main attack is way more harmful then the other attacks. (as it renders you vulnerable for a few seconds)
