If you see a Pseudogiants just leave.
Like holy hell i just had one "bug out" so it stood still. So i took out my M860 shotgun, it took 34 POINT BLANK SHOTS TO THE FACE TO DIE on stalker difficulty!!!!

Now imagine doing that to max difficulty while that ♥♥♥♥ is trying to kill you. Literal waste of time, waste of insane ammo and you get nothing.

Honestly i am not trying to sh1t on the game but it feels sad that some of the mutants are just a pure bullet sponge and that is their entire thing going for them.

I had a human NPC get partially stuck in a wall and become seemingly invulnerable to damage, maybe something similar happened here. I have yet to see one of these though.

It was the same with the older stalker games. I think a better choice is spamming grenades at it, or shooting it with a sniper.

Or it's entirely possible that the mutants are too OP on launch.

they have armor now, you need to use armor piercing rounds. Slugs work amazing.

The M860 is kind of low tier - wheras the pseudogiant is pretty much the most dangerous of the mutants. Doesn't compute well, that combination.

Use a machine gun or if you really want go to-to-toe then use a high tier shotgun - like the O-M-F-G Ram-2.

I prefer chicken out and shoot it from range as I suck at dodging :>

What kind of ammo did you use? Pseudogiants are, by lore, extremely durable against most bullets. That being said, I agree that players should be able to get SOMETHING for killing mutants.

Honestly when i fought it instantly got in the mode of "glitching my enemies is the intended way" as it very often felt back in the day with video games.

Pseudogiants are big and tough. They are also extremely rare.

It might be worth carrying around some expanding rounds to pop in when you face off against some tougher mutants.

Yea but the damage of the shotguns is all the same? The difference comes from magazines and shooting speed.

I just love how people call enemies that don't die after a mere sight in their direction "bullet sponges" these days, lmao.

Have you played the original Stalker trilogy? Hell, have you even seen how huge are pseidogiants? They're freaking massive mutants, of course they won't go down so easily!

However, what is wrong with the game is, it does not reward you for hunting down mutants, yes. In the original SoC and in some mods you could collect their body parts and then sell it, they could have done something similar here, tbh.

I got a bloodsucker stuck on a tree and experimented on him and with that scoped ak you get from the tower near the start of the game he took 32 headshots to die. that's on veteran but that still seems like an insane of shots to kill something more common than a boar.
imo anyway.

sounds like someone isnt using armor pen
Kai Nov 26, 2024 @ 11:50am
pseudogiants have like 10cm thick layer of skull basically.

What makes mutants bad as tanky enemies, isn't that they are tanky, but you cannot stagger or injure or even weaken them in any form.

No stun grenades or anything to blind them for instance, no special effects to cause them to bleed out or get poisoned, no crippling status effect on enemies to make them move slower.

higher tier guns get better armor penetration its kinda how the difficulty scaling works in this one I think
Bro encountered the strongest mutant in the game and is perplexed why it's hard to kill it
