Stalker games generally have a definitive ending, the only one that ever had an option to keep playing after the main quest, was the third game, call of pripyat.
The point of no return is the mission "Down Below"
With that being open world with no loading screens and all this new stuff I kind of thought it would have that I'm not going to lie I don't mind it doesn't but I kind of would have liked for them to bluntly have said that oh that's not a possibility cuz there was nothing said about that like at all henceforth my question I didn't know if we could or couldn't cuz just no information was out there.
I'm a little surprised that people didn't really ask about that before the game's release.
But anyway it kind of sounds like I'm just going to have to head back to stalker anomaly after I finished this game
Like I really enjoy the stalker series and I feel like this game should allow us to continue playing I mean the only gain that allows us outside call of pipiyat I believe, is stalker anomaly because with that game given its a mod but it's basically a separate game you can turn off the story mode and still continue to play I would just really hope they would give us a patch that allows us to play the game if they don't, they don't.
I'll just have to go back to stalker anomaly but I just feel like they have all this new stuff for the second game and then it just gets wasted after you're done with the story if you choose to play all the endings
But then again, this game doesn't have any system to accomodate it at all so maybe it's better this way.
Just wait for a better/modded version later.
S2 isn't a sandbox game, it has an open world and sandbox elements, but it still has a definitive beginning, middle and end. That was the intention of the developers and writers.
and speaking to general spoilers. Once the main quest ends, regardless of what path you took, it doesn't make sense or for it to even be possible to keep on playing.
Will just have to wait until some free roam+ whatever you want to call them, mods get cooked up. For now, devs are looking to patch the bugs crashes and performance issues so that the original vision can be experienced the way they intended.
all in all its really no different than where we were in 2006 with SOC. GSC isnt obligated to make their game (and change the writing of a singleplayer story) to conform to gaming trends Just because other games have a shoehorned NG+ / Free roam after the title slides.
They're going to give people the tools to modify the game, and let the creatives in the community take it from there, if they want something other than what they make. Thats saying a lot for most games in general, because most games dont give you mod tools.
