New mod lets you customize flashlight, including enabling shadow casting
Mod is called, Flashlight Customizer by KZekai

Link below
https://www.nexusmods.com/stalker2heartofchornobyl/mods/221

When it comes to the shadow commands, they are following

fl_shadows normal true|false :: enables shadow casting
fl_shadows deep true|false :: enables deep shadows
fl_shadows volume true|false :: enables volumetric shadows
fl_shadows dynamic true|false :: enables dynamic shadows
fl_shadows fg true|false :: enables foreground shadows

The mod also lets you change light radius, light colour etc. (Please check the full Readme file on the mod page)

Surprisingly it appears to come with no noticeable performance impact

Thanks! It's insane that a game in 2024 doesn't have flashlight shadows from the player's perspective. I saw clips where the player had none but an enemy in front of them did. It's absolutely bizarre.

Thank you very much for this info, Iam going to try this right away
I was waiting someone to enable this. Ridiculous that devs haven't enabled it by default....the atmosfphere in the game is gone without these.

I hate adding mods this early as updates bust them wide open..

Well, I thought the pre release footage was old and they will probably add it in the final release, but nope...They ridiculous excuse was that it's an "artistic" decisions, LMAO
The original from 2007, a almost 18 year old game at this point had this , ON RELEASE :D

Don't get me wrong i love modding but i wait a while, nothing annoys me more than having to wait days for mods to update (maybe) and not being able to play my game.

Most mods for unreal engine games don't need to be updated since it uses existing assets and features in the engine itself. The flashlight mod uses UE features and will probably never break unless they remove these features or add them in the actual game coding.
Some other mods might break that edits parameters for let's say enemies, weapons, adding new stuff etc.

Didn't they say they are adding a flashlight toggle next patch?

What is up with this mod it tells me to put the files directly into the paks folder instead of ~mods but then it just doesn't work. I can get UETools with console working fine but this one just does nothing for me.

You do not put anything inthe games directory at all, put the modloader and the mod itself in the mods folder, however to enable you have to use the console and enable it there and there fiddle with the settings , just follow the readme

Flashlight toggle: L on keyboard,
OR
press Middle mouse button

Must be a veteran stalker thing i guess

but those miss shadows from the dfflash light is almost infuriation especialy since NPC's flashlight cast shadows on bigger objects(tree stumps , trees , cars, walls...& so on, though not on grass and stuff others alpha channels stuff as far as i can tell)

Yes they do, however, try standing in front of the npcs flashlight, only your gun will cast shadow, thats because your character is actually a vampire.

What do you mean, the readme states you put the pak files etc. into "Stalker2\Content\Paks\" there are no other files there when I download it. After that I pressed ~ F10 ] \ keys etc. but no console shows up?
EzyPzyJapaneze Nov 29, 2024 @ 8:30am
no you have to put the files into ~mods folder
Stalker2\Content\Paks\~mods
Yes even with the tilde symbol
