Artifacts not spawning
I've now had two cases where I'm standing right on top of an artifact, but it refuses to appear. I even tried quitting the game, then reloading the save to see if it was a random bug, but it still happened. I have a Bear scanner, and it shows me as right on top of it.

I've run into this a few times as well.

I managed to fix it by loading a save outside of the area, but there's been a couple occasions when that didn't work either.

Artifacts move/jump around. So while you think you are in the right spot, the little bugger might be in a different spot. Could also be under ground. There is one case where there is an artifact in a facility and it always spawns in the wall. Spawns above, drops into the wall.

I'm playing on high+ settings and I have already encountered this bug at least twice. I have verified, as much as I could, there is no underground anomaly that would let spawn the artifact there. The detector can not differentiate between elevations as far as I can tell.

Starting to feel like a bug, I’ve been trying to get the artifact in cement factory reloading, it just won’t spawn in, 45 mins attempting now and nothing, I’ve had no issue finding them before this.

I had to use no clip because I had an artifact spawn on the roof of the building, but it fell through to an inaccessible floor of the building.
It was that building in the electrical field anomaly where you have to escort that stalker out of it.

I think i remember a bug in the older games if you got rid of the starting scanner, i did sell mine a while back, just went to see if they are for sale anywhere and cant find one.

I've had many times artifacts just clipping into the terrain. Sometimes they seemingly disappear completely while the beeping does not. Other times they clip just below the surface so that the light they emit can still be seen but cannot grab it.

This is common occurrence especially when the ground has any kind of deformations, such as rocks or acid pools and craters. To me it looks almost like the artefacts would use low level terrain LOD as a collision mesh instead of the real ground. Very infuriating.

A pro tip for others: Download and install the console command mod from Nexus.
Use "UETools_Ghost" to enable No Clip (use mouse thumb buttons to go up and down).
Use "UETools_Walk" to disable No Clip, after getting the artefact from the ground.

It worked! thing was like 20ft below ground level, wow that is a frustrating bug, i spent over an hour just circling the area thinking i was doing something wrong, ran back to base to grab a different scanner ect...

I've had it once outside, and the most recent was in a tunnel on level ground. I wonder if I still have a save from that point in time to go back to, just to see what the artifact was....

I get command not recognised for those commands.

Thanks. I did eventually work that out. Many guides never mention this additional mod is needed for those commands to work. I had to use it on another mission where I needed to speak to someone, and the door to their building wouldn't open.

Can you explain this to me like in a 5 yo? New to all this, I downloaded the UE Tools stuff, moved the files in to the ~mods folder… and nothing. Tried to console commands and got something along the lines of it not being recognized.

What am I missing or doing wrong here?

No, undortunately I cannot explain it any more clearly or simply than what the more README tells you.

Just make sure you've installed the mod correctly so that the ~mods folder only contains .pak .ucas and .utoc files and not any folders. There should be four files in total.

Then write the commands I mentioned earlier without the quotes.
