I just like it. I like being made to feel oppressed by a bleak environment. When you finally walk up to Reactor 4... to see it there, before you, containing deadly material that could kill another Human in another 100,000 years just the same. Something alluring about it in a perverted way. Then the rain starts falling and you are forced to seek shelter in the very building that ruined over 50,000 lives in one day and countless more for years after..
To be able to play a 3D worldspace game based on that is humbling. But I guess it's something you can only appreciate if you were alive during 1986 and have heard of Deep Silver. I'm not surprised to see toxicity, especially in this day and age of social media influence,
But I can definitely make a connection with how Steam Forum can become swamped in toxic fallout, just like the swamps of Chernobyl. Interesting.
I have 27 hours in the game now. No problems and loving every minute of it.
There is so much fantastic stuff in the game no one is talking about. It´s a shame.
Stalker 2 is already my favourite in the series and I`m sure they will only make it better.
Good hunting stalkers ;)
This.
Unbelievable, isnt it?
What would happen to a Company outside the Gamingindustry that keep selling broken Stuff? Exactly, they would vanish.
I understand People who are angry, its not the first game..its normal for those companies to sell broken ♥♥♥♥. Because what will happen? Gamers go at each other throats insteat of those who would deserve it.
And people wonder why it continues? The community has told devs they don't actually need to finish their game in order to sell it so why would they?
Have you ever thought that issues you and others are having are not experienced by those who are "defending" the game? As an individual its not my job to speak for others if my experience has been mostly positive. Its also a big thing on the internet for people who don't want the game to succeed or just thrive on negative discourse to repeat "issues" that are not really issues but mostly opinions and personal preferences that were no met with this game.
This mashing people together in groups needs to stop. If you don't like the game and are having issues its your right as an individual to speak on them, but that is YOUR experience not their entire player bases. I'm not a "defender" of any game I simply speak on my own experience and if it is good then I won't have any reason to be overly negative about it.
One cherry pick the other exaggerates to make a point. Truth as always, somewhere in the middle.
Just because some don't have a problem doesn't mean there isn't one.
If you play a game and don't get any problems but others do and you then decide you want to defend the developer (for whatever reason) all you are doing is ensuring that this practice of releasing broken products continues, eventually you will be impacted by one too.
There are varying levels of broken when it comes to games, Stalker 2 is very much broken on many levels, I will consider anyone to be a liar if they say they have not experienced any issues. They are either denying they exist, playing the game with their eyes closed or just mindlessly consuming.
There is nothing to be gained by a consumer when it comes to defending a developer, none whatsoever.
I agree so much.
When I bought SOC I was 11-12 years old. It was between 2009 - 2010. After Ageoprom controller situation I shelved this game and couldn't sleep properly for a week. I love this series for story, sense of mystery and atmosphere. For a long time I didn't care for A-life, it was there but it was not the main focus of the game for me. For a long time mods shaped what Stalker is in the minds of players. It started being ridiculous when part of community haven't even played original trilogy and their whole experience of Stalker was mods. There I see source of this big A-life problem. Another funny thing is using Gamma or Anomaly as talking point, telling Devs to port ideas from those mods.
Game Devs released buggy product, one of many aspects of this game doesn't work properly, but there is so many things that are done right. Atmosphere is fantastic, quests are satisfying and creative, can't say much about story because I still haven't finished it. So far it is interesting and fulfilling. Game is genuinely difficult, you can see clear progress. In the beginning on the veteran difficulty I couldn't kill bloodsucker and for me it is part of an experience. You are meant to run away and not engage, you are not equipped properly, you will die. Gear repair costs mean that I approach every situation, mission, animaly carefully, because being reckless means I can actually loose money. Search stashes for loot, explore and look for equipment you will profit. First time when I lost money I just thought to myself that this feeling is soo good. Game punished me for being dumb. At this point I have some problems with the game but it's core is great. I am really enjoying it and can't control myself.
