Also was hoping the Tark and Izlom would show up.
"Zombies" is the final stage when their bodies entirely waste away and they become totally feral. Those zombies look like usual zombies and they don't use guns. However, I have not come across zombies yet in stalker 2.
its just a term for people's who've suffered near fatal amounts of psi radiation, their brains are destroyed and they're just shambling husks that can barely stand, but still know how to do basic actions like opening doors and using their weapons
based on the old voiceovers in the old games, its possible that the explanation is zombified stalkers are halleucinating whilst having fatal brain damage, they can still speak but its mumbled, they'll say things like "enemy!!!!" and then wildly fire at them.
Others have already explained that they are more like husks that have no emotion, no memory, and are acting on their most basic instinct, that being to kill anything/anyone they come across.
