Piece of cake quest bug.

Liking the game in general but totally stuck now. I cannot do the piece of cake quest as the artifact does not appear. I have seen a bunch of threads with potential solutions. In the main these seem to be along the lines of turning the graphics up, particularly the effects. But I have all effects maxed out. The second most likely solution seems to be to restart the game. Tried that several times and it still doesn't turn up. Does anyone know how to fix this buggy quest?

Great news. Today's patch fixed it for me. Hopefully for you too.

I hear beeping but no artifact appears. Also, the detector won't appear in his left hand.

Artifacts often like to spawn under the surface or inside objects. The early game electrical one that spawns on top of that round tower likes to do that a lot... I don't even try for that one anymore because of it.
