S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Carry weight too low
This is becoming an extreme issue for me. I'm not even carrying that much. I've got two artefacts that add extra carry weight (by like 3kg so practically pointless). The map is actually quite large and sprinting for 2 seconds and waiting is getting really tedious now. I can never seem to get out of the yellow even though i'm carrying basic stuff and not anything extra i don't need.

Lowering the weight on my weapons and armour isn't doing much either. And its getting too expensive to constantly upgrade both them and weapons. I think this needs to be looked in to. Maybe lowering the base weight of items a bit more or adding something that increase your carry weight for a fee. Obviously there's a lot of running about in these games and considering the size of the map compared to original games, there needs to be some sort of purchasable weight gain or something. 80kg is too low. (well 83kg for me right now whoop-de-do)

Stalker 2 has issues, but the encumbrance and stamina feel just right for me. I like having to constantly mind my inventory, and with sprint being the best defense in the game, your survival is tied to how light you travel in a sense. I understand others not liking it, but this for me is one of the best-balanced parts and not something i am looking to mod or change, I like how it works just fine.

I agree with this, but repair costs need be nerfed by 70%. The only reason I travel with nearly red weight is because I NEED to sell a ton of stuff to repair.

I just did the Swamp part which was long and a lot of battles. Total cost to repair my armor and 3 guns - 157,000 coupons... that is like 5+ scavenging and limping back to a base to sell outings which are not much fun.
They will not change it.

It might be new to many people, but you have to maintain your backpack. Check how much ammo you're carrying for example. Sell the stuff and ammo you don't need.

Also, you don't need 15 bottles of water and 30 bread with another 8 sausages. Also, pick your weapon load out, you wouldn't carry around 8 weapons IRL :)

Hope this helps Stalker. Have fun in the zone
Use a weight mod. It may not be realistic but avoids a lot of traveling between vendors. Just toss red weapons out once in a while or your inventory becomes crowded (unload them first).

Okay, you really don´t need to carry ammo with you for guns you don´t have with you. Four different types of edibles are also not really helpful. I have only the cans with me.

Vodka is not needed if you have enough radioprotectants with you, water and beer can be substituted by energy drinks.

Yeah sadly people will mod out the things in the game that make it a challenge. Nothing can be done about that. Gamers today want everything easy. Surprised this game has such great reviews as it is a challenge on normal. Though you EARN almost everything.

It's not a challenge on Normal, i noticed right at the start, of a new game on Stalker difficulty, every weapon i got was 100% durability, and i was finding Scientific Medkits all over the place.

On my first run on Veteran, all the same weapons were broken, i had barely any ammo, and all i got were the start medkits.
Fallout fan playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ass experience
Carry one food item in a stack of less than 5, and use more bandages than medkits unless you're getting btfo. Stash your excess ammo, healing, weapons, etc in the box in Hamster's store. There's an equivalent box in most base locations. Return to your stash to offload often.
Take only necessary ammo and the unnecessary ones store in the box of any base that you can do, it syncs every box.
You don't have to carry everything around you find, use the ywllow box to store it so you can access it at any base you are at
Weight management has always been part of Stalker gameplay. The current limit is actually more generous than in the previous games, iirc.

If you explore even just a little bit, you can find basic supplies pretty much EVERYWHERE even on veteran difficulty, so there's really no point in starting a trip with a huge supply of consumables. You'll find plenty on the way.
I can understand the frustration and have stubbornly refused to drop a few weapons and armour I had found because they would pay for repairs etc. But realistically a lot of the time it’s about planning.

I take 10 medkits, 10 bandages and 10 food items. Also no more than 5 vodkas OR 5 anti rad meds and 3 waters. For weapons it is a reduced weight AR with 100 rounds, a shotgun with 50 rounds and a pistol with 50 rounds. Even without weight artefacts I am pretty much half green for encumbrance and this gives me enough room for quest items should I find them.

Edit: I only use weapons that use the most common ammo types. That way I restock ammo out in the field easily. The Fora AR uses the standard AK style ammo and has decent damage and penetration. It’s nowhere near the best weapon by stats, but has much better stopping power in a firefight than an exotic AR you have no ammo for.

The best advice is to load up for the intended mission. The above loadout is for my artefact or loot hunting expeditions to get funds. If I am specifically doing a quest mission I double the ammo loadout and the medkit loadout. Then use self discipline to not grab every item I find but if it is something rare or a cool gun, then I unload some of the more common items.

I see people complaining that loot is everywhere and they have scores of medkits etc. Well yes you do, but it should all be in your storage back at base for restocking between excursions or missions. Not being lugged around with you everywhere.

This mod makes it more enjoyable.

Weird Water is bugged for me and I literally can not get it. But with everything taking up so much weight before the mod, I could barely bring back 2 rifles before being on Yellow weight.
It makes the whole process of making money a massive pain.

The "trick" is to pack lightly. You don't need 20 breads, 6 bottles of water, 20 magazines for the assault rifle, 60 shotgun shells , 30 magazines for the sidearm ...

Instead try a more reasonable loadout: 4-5 AR magazines, 5 medkits, 10 bandages, 2 clips for the sidarm, 10 shotgun shells. 2 bread, 1 bottle of water.

Normally one finds a lot additional stuff. Just try it out - check what you really needed vs what you had with you.

I very much doubt you have played the game. Even if we take into account that you might have it on console or Gamepass. Maybe you're playing on the easiest difficulty though.

10 shotgun shells? 1 Blood sucker shows up and those shells are gone. Another one shows up and it's "Oh ♥♥♥♥" and you're quite done.
You encounter these blood suckers quite a bit too. Sometimes even in pair. This is not to talk about the other mutants
Medkits? Also gone in that fight because you will get hit. In fact getting hit is very easy in this game.
5 Magazines worth of bullet for the assault rifles? Yeah that is not gonna last you long.

Humans are the only things you can down quickly with headshots. Mutants? Not so much.
its survival game cannot borrow too much like weapons just 3 /4 weapons with different types and more feels survival again is metro last light only 2 weapons XD but yeaa if want borrow much items use mods

You are free to doubt but in this case you couldn't be more wrong. I'm playing the Stalker series since it exists and have Stalker 2 on GOG [of course - as there I "own" the game]. My prefered difficulty is Stalker and my stash is filled up with ammo and consumables. Last time I checked I had 400+ medkits and double that of bandages.

You most likely fail to grasp the core concept I (and others) described here. You pack light because you WILL find more on your way. Buckshots are the most common ammo in the game. Headshots are viable for all enemies.

I kill Bloodsuckers with 4-5 buckshot shots out of my Saiga. After tutorial phase (=Lesser Zone) this is the first weapon I buy (e.g. @Red Forest). 5 Magazines for the AR last forever - as you should only use singleshot. For situations where you need full auto you take out your shotgun and rush the enemy. Rushing tougher enemies (mutants) is a key strategy as their AI can't handle that. For example - a controller can't withstand 8 buckshot hits to the head. Buckshots are cheap and everywhere btw. If you want to have a spray'n pray weapon get the Buket S-2 SMG - it uses cheap pistol rounds, is deadly and can get AP upgrades very early (as it is very cheap). The Buket is indeed my prefered sidearm for shotgun-sniper loadouts. A good alternative is the Rhino revolver.

If people suffer from ammo shortages or mutants which are too tough because (for whatever reason) they have to play Veteran difficulty they should be veteran enough to offset the player damage nerf and still have no problems with the ammo management in that game.

tl;dr: every enemy should get a shot into the head. Singleshot for all weapons. Shotguns are your friend.
I have seen some people on streams who have their inventories full of loot.
No idea what you backpack looks like, but my imagination tells me an unsupervised kleptomaniac at a flea marcet.
Here are my three advies which could help:
1; Plan your exploration ahead. Bring no more than two (max3) weapons with you. Same for ammo. You will never be in a situation where 50 shotgun shells are not enough. Same for rifle ammo . 90 is enough to win you a small fight - looting spare mags off fallen enemies will provide you with what you need to win the battle.
2: When you reach the yellow carry capacity, head back to the trader. Simply that. Whatever was out there to be looted, it will wait for you to come back for it on the second trip.
3: I do get when sometimes on missions the loot is just too good to pass on. It is impossible to leave mid mission to run back to the trader and all of that - yes... Just find an empty container. Make your stash there. Leave everything you want, then come back for it later. Stalkers make stashes all the time. (Just make sure it is in a location you can go back to)
Ill make also diffeeent type of trips out to the zone.
Main mission- when Ive gathered enough recourses. Ill stack up max(20 meds, 300ammo for 2 weapons, 100 pistol). Less water, energy.(6 or so)

Exploration, less ammo, more energy drinks(15).

Looting, light ammo, go for artifacts and lug back ecerything I can.

On the way I pick up all water, and just use them up straifht away- reduce my weight+ can full sprint 100-150m.

Im using for a longer time 2-3 Flytraps(medium weight), getting my max capqcity to 103kg without any armor mods.

I quite like it, plan and manage. Dump all the excessive stuff to Private Stash.
Ive got different wrapons for backup(ran out of buckshots somehow, switched to 9x19 Vector).
