When can we starting buying/using scopes for rifles

I'm about 10 hours and not come across a single scope I can use on my AR, which is annoying especially when the AI can hit you from ridiculous distances (and only leave 2 bullets for me to collect from their dead bodies but that's another annoying issue). Do vendors eventually start selling scopes (I'm on the garbage place right now)? I hate using the iron sights for some weapons, especially over medium/long distances.

You can get a scoped rifle in the first settlement after the prologue.

2nd or third trader

-> anything after trash heap place should have scopes
chemical plant was blocked by soldier in the doorway so i could not check

You will get a side quest in Zalessya to straighten out a guy or something like that (Lumox is his name). Part of that mission have scripted event, if you make a right choice you will get a scoped AK as a reward.

Ok thanks. Still a silly amount of time to go before getting a decent option, especially on a AR that isn't useable due to condition.

No. It's one of the first side missions. You can find a scope in a stash at the slag heap if you search good enough as well.

there are scopes "everywhere". In the very first city you get scoped rifle. In the nearby factory there was what appeared as fixed sniper with heavy damage/range SVDM rifle. Found the AKM scope attachment in some stash early on.

And dropped VS Vintar from random in Garbage which is my main weapon now, as it's scoped silenced rifle with better-then-AR damage.

no, that one had grenade launcher

in the lesser zone, the very first settlement, the guy that owed money and you meet the other extortists outside of the building. He will tell you he bought a scoped rifle to deal with them from the nearby water tower, so there it is.

Yeah same, I gave it back to him. Was happy with my AKM 74s fully modded and my M860.
